How do I figure out what the recrafting cost of an item is prior to having that item crafted at all? Right now I can only see what it takes to recraft an item I’ve already had made.

I get weird percentages from crafters when asking about getting an item crafted. Feels like I’m at a betting/bookie office/casino. "You got a 30% chance to get what you want - but then you can reroll the dice (recraft) until you get what you want. "

“I could give you a 100% chance to get what you want, but I don’t have any Illustrious Insight, and any mettle YOU have can’t be provided to make the item you’re wanting me to craft you - even though it’s purpose is to help you get things made.”

I can’t trade this guy mettle, and I can’t even but it.

“Just level professions.”

Bruh, the REASON I’M TALKING TO YOU is because I didn’t level my professions to make this item - I want you to make it.

Why can’t I buy what this guy needs without otherwise having to play the slot machines at a casino to get an item made?

I thought you did provide your mettle on the recraft?

You can. But there are cases where if the crafter had the mettle before making the first craft, the recraft wouldn’t be necessary.

Not really sure why people are soft “forced” into recrafting when an initial craft is possible.

Were you wanting a specific quality? Because it sounds like they didn’t have the skill to craft something and had to rely on either Inspiration or optional reagents. If that’s the case, I’d recommend just finding another crafter. The crafter you were talking to is kinda trying to play you.

Because most crafters can only make rank 5 with an inspiration proc.

You’re recrafting until that proc occurs.

But it was stated that the item could be crafted for certain at the needed ilvl if the mettle could be handed to the crafter.

So you end up needing to use the mettle during a recraft, when it could have just been used for the original craft.

Seems like that’s the entire point of the post.

Most crafters even with full stacked points can’t do rank 5 without inspiration proccing. That’s just how it works. Especially when you get into Primal Infusions and higher with Missive. And especially if the client didn’t use all rank 3 mats.

It was already stated that it could be crafted 100%

No, OP is just misunderstanding what the “100%” means. The crafter will use his own mats for recrafting when he claims 100%.

Sorry if I was unclear.

The person making the item explicitly said he could 100% guarantee the craft at the level I wanted if he had 5 mettle, but that they were all out.

I had 5 mettle - but there’s no way to give it to the crafter.

It doesn’t seem to make sense to require it for the recraft when I can just hand it over for the original craft.

Mettle doesn’t help %.

Only Illustrious Insight.

I think you make the Insight WITH the mettle.
