Hi, so what’s the deal with recrafting? I’ve crafted myself a couple of pieces and have ton’s of Mettle sitting here doing nothing as i don’t really pay much attention to blacksmithing besides what i can craft for myself.
If i recraft the weapon and shoulders i made do i need to use higher quality mats than i did to originally make it for it to get a higher ilvl?
Someone told me i should also be using my spare mettle to craft profession tools to turn it into gold?
That depends. Crafted items remember the quality of the materials used when originally crafted, and recrafting replaces a portion of the old material bonus with the new materials. This can raise or lower the total material skill bonus when recrafting.
If you plan on keeping these items for a long time and originally crafted them with lower quality materials, it can be worthwhile to recraft them a couple times with quality 3 mats, but if the quality bonus isn’t enough to push your skill up to the next quality rank then it doesn’t matter too much.
