Recraft items

Hi there,

Since Dragonflight, we’ve been able to recraft our old season gear, keeping the gem sockets, gems, and enchants, which is awesome, in my opinion.

In patch 11.1, I did this on one character, and it worked perfectly, keeping my gem sockets and everything, saving me like 100k honor. But then, I tried it on another character, and I was able to recraft the same items (rings and neck), but all the sockets and gems were gone, it only kept the enchant.

After opening a ticket with support, they said it’s a known issue and apparently, there’s no fix for me, just farm 100k+ honor again to get my gems back. Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks.

Yeah had this happen as well.

Rdruid kept precog and enchants. My shaman (who I came back to play) lost precog gem and enchant on my recraft.

Looks like I’m done now.

What gave you the sockets? I cannot speak to the PvP item, but the PvE item adds sockets only for season 1 items from the vault (as of this week, it is sockets only for season 2 items which will be purchasable first as of next week using the season 2 currency). When recrafting your items using a Spark of Fortune (or the PvP heraldries of the season) your item will become a season 2 item, and any sockets added by the season 1 exclusive items are removed.

I haven’t heard of an enchantment being removed though.

Glad I only didnthis with 3 toons then, wated 9k gold for nothing apparently. Gonna wait to recraft for a bit just in case it turns out to be a bog. :see_no_evil::speak_no_evil::hear_no_evil:

It’s normal. You only keep sockets that came with the gear like rings and necklace.

It was working that way back in DF as well. I daresay it isn’t a bug, but you could make a bug report post if you think otherwise, it never hurts.

So my case was a ring that had 2 sockets 1 of which would be baseline and another from an item. The ring now has 0 sockets.

So this is not “normal” it’s a bug.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s a bug.

Is it that Algari Competitor’s Signet? Those do not come with a socket like the PvE rings do when crafted.

Yeah right. Wasn’t aware till today it worked that way for PvP. Like Kiyoko says we have to get them socketed again the long way.

Your point makes sense. However, my lock kept all the sockets and gems in its Alagary rings and necklace. A GM confirmed there was a bug in my ticket and asked me to fill out a report.

Unsure why people are arguing when there’s evidence that this is definitely a bug lol. Classic wow forums experience.

No, because I haven’t started upgrading stuff yet. That sucks, and once again Blizzard is taking the “oh well, sucks for you, nothing we can do” attitude, just like the guild banks. What happened to this company?

Thanks for the heads up.

I was surprised because my goggles kept their socket on recraft. Normally, goggles/bracers would need the vault item to get a new socket after recrafting with a different spark. If goggles kept them and jewelry didn’t, since jewelry didn’t require a vault item for sockets and the sockets were added buy a thing you buy on the AH, seems like they crossed the wires.

Submitted a ticket on this and got an AI response that basically ignored my ticket and gave me the following scenario that happened to them:

Even us as GMs are subject to the same strict guidelines: A couple weeks back I made a major hiccup by accidentally soul-binding an ilvl 678 “Inventor’s Ingenious Trifocals” at the end of a raid run. All my guild mates thought I was ninja looting and I even got kicked off the guild for this unfortunate incident. It was a painful lesson to learn for me, and even with all the regret in the world, I couldn’t change what had already happened. I had to pick myself up and try my best to move on - even though it truly felt I was starting from zero again.

Which to my knowledge it would have been impossible to loot a 678 version of that item ‘a couple weeks ago’ and would be impossible now. 678 is equivalent to bosses 2-4 in the current raid. End of dungeon loot in a 12+ is 655 and vault ilvl is 662 (which there hasn’t been a vault yet, also not 678).

I called them out on this, and pointed to again, my druid did not have this behaviour and they just doubled down and closed the ticket.

Shameful.

They changed it on wednesday. If you recrafted your gear on Tuesday, you kept gems/enchants, if you recrafted on Wednesday or later, you lose the gems (I know this because my hunter kept the gems, my pally lost them)
