It’s time I ditch the Logitech mouse from 2010 lol. I wanted to see what everyone else is using for their mouse these days?! (looking more specifically for PVP keybindings)
I found another G600 on Ebay for cheap. I now have a backup for this one.
They need to start making it again.
The Red Dragon mice are nice. I have an M908 and it works great. Recommend it.
I’ve used Razor Naga brand with the 12 side buttons since 2010’s. They’ve broken a few times but ultimately with proper upkeep you can keep one without issues for years. My current one I’ve had 2yrs strong so far without issues. I also like the program it comes with, so you can adjust the colors and buttons etc. Once you get used to pressing all those side buttons with your thumb, you can never really go back to clicking and whatnot. It’s just too convenient.
You can also get them at pretty much any Walmart or Best Buy. Warning, they’re expensive though. Like $60-90 dollars.
i’ve used razer naga both in game and professionally as a 3d modeler for a little over a decade now. i like that it has a sturdy, smooth construction without too many crazy angles or pieces, its lightweight, and its a more foreward grip mouse which i feel gives me better control. i’ve had very little trouble with the laser except occasionally needing to blow some dust out of it.
i’ve heard some people have trouble with lemons of the mouse breaking or going bad, but that generally hasnt been my experience. my first mouse saw 7 years of daily use, probably 10-12 hours a day, especially at work really hammering on it in maya before it gave up the ghost. im on my second one now and no issues. they were like $70ish a piece at the time, so $140 for 10+ years of good mouse performance i consider to be acceptable, comes out to about $10 a year.
i tried corsair, it was heavy which led to wrist strain, it was a bulky, more rear grip mouse which i felt gave me less control, and it had an immovable extrusion of plastic that stuck out in front of the side buttons for the thumb which created an uncomfortable corner my thumb would end up jammed up against while using the forewardmost buttons 1 2 and 3.
i’ve tried a couple others like logitech and some madcat esque offbrand nonsense but nothing has, to me, matched the comfort and control of the naga. of course everyones hands are shaped differently, and have different preferences for weight and grip, so it may be worth taking a trip up to something like a best buy and seeing if they have some floor models, or keep your receipt for a return incase it turns out to be a poor fit. often you cant properly gauge the comfort of a shoe until you’ve walked a full day in it, and i think to a lesser extent computer mice are a similar story.
Grab a refurbished Razer Naga on the cheap.
I buy this super cheap mass produced no name mmo mouse off amazon/wish/etc. Swear it is part a build it yourself kite.
Thing lasted half a decade and was 20$. Only annoying part is you have to write your own macros for it. Causes issues with evokers if you ise the num pad on the side.
I’m kind of stuck with the Razor Nagas, since I don’t think anyone else makes a mouse with 7 side buttons set up in a circle.
Fortunately they last forever. I have a handful of backups because I used to have them on most of our workstations.
They kept breaking on me. Always the left button plunger. That’s why I went to Logitech.
i agree with razer naga that’s what i use and have been using. sometimes flakes out but almost always with a cleaning of the parts it works again. sometimes i rub the parts like some nintendo NES cartridge blowing ritual and it just works. i love technology that works like that.
Yep, I had the same issue with the Razer Trinity mouse, it’s QA was so bad I needed to replace it 4 times in a year. And what made it worse, is I had to wait almost 6 months to get one of the replacements because they were “out of stock”, and by the time I got it, my original mouse was out of warranty. The new one came to me broken, and they would not replace it because the original device was not “out of warranty”.
I swore I would never go back to razer again, but their black widdow keyboard went on sale for black friday, so foolishly got it. On arrival the F1 key didn’t work at all, the space bar only registers 1/3 of the time, and every other key is triple posting.
Thank god I didn’t do away with my old keyboard (Steelseries), I’m still waiting on my razer replacement black widow, it’s been 3 weeks.
Only reason I wanted to replace my Steelseries was because I was wanting to move to a silent keyboard for streaming.
Are you certain you didn’t buy it from Logan Sargeant?
corsair nightsword.
Im a 5foot11 male 34 years old, I guess with average for my size hands, and I find that the corsair nightsword just fits my palm and thumb perfect.
I had issues with it and went out and tried my hand on all the other mice at best buy and ALL of them were too small or my thumb always accidentally hit the side buttons when not intended.
(turns out i just needed to blow into the mouse, the buttons were getting sticky and when i blew it out with my mouth it has worked 100% perfect ever since and that was over 5 months ago)
The corsair nightsword is just the right fit for my hand and I love the simple button layout.
I give it a 10/10 and if this one ever breaks i will have no other option than replace it with another exact copy
now that im thinking about it again, if i can get the money together i might go buy 2 spare ones so im set for a while. I think they run at 120-150$ each
As an F1 fan… this made me laugh.
Same. If you aren’t used to using a big mouse like that it takes a little bit of an adjustment period but I really like mine.
Was hoping at least 1 other person would get the joke.
It was either him, or one of the 2021 haas duo.
I have not found an acceptable G600 replacment yet, mainly due to the lack of a clickable ring-finger button on others like the Naga. Losing the clickable ring-finger button would require me to change keybinds that I’ve been using for 15+ years, as the Creative Fatal1ty 2020 mouse that I used (several) before moving to the G600 also had the clickable ring-finger button.
The quality of the G600 is good overall, but no they don’t last forever. The switches on the main mouse buttons usually fail first. They will start to miss clicks and/or double-click when you only click once. This will begin as an infrequent problem but will get worse over time if you keep using it.
I have about 7 G600 mice. 5 are in that “just starting to fail” state, where I could probably milk a few more months out of each if I had to. My current G600 has lasted impressively longer than the others since I’ve babied it a bit. I also have one more G600 that I got used, but looks to have low hours on it. After that I’ll look into potentially replacing the switches in one or more of the broken mice if there is still no good alternative yet.
It’s just crazy that logitech thinks there is no market for these anymore yet they still sell 10 different types of exotic trackballs, split keyboards, and so many other niche products.
I like my Corsair M65 mouse. It has an uncommon “sniper” button and two side buttons, and it’s bigger than most mice. I have extra large hands, so I could never use the 6 or 12 buttons on the side mice. I just use shift and alt plus the side buttons for everything I don’t use the keyboard for. I also use an eluktronics mech 16 laptop and the free eluktronics mouse they bundled with it. It’s a really nice mobile use mouse.
I bought one of these and idk it seems to replace all my keyboard keybinds.
I want the mouse buttons in addition to the binds.
I have a four button mouse that is in addition to my key board binds and its way better to me.
A real woman man uses a 3 button mouse and all the key bindings.
