Recommendations for gaming chair

Title.

I’m older than 40. Between work and WoW I am at my computer 10ish hours a day. Some days longer and have been for may years. Body is starting to feel it.

Im 6’1” and normal body weight. Looking for something that is good for leg circulation if possible and just an overall comfortable chair. Budget up to $1,000 or so. Figure I would rather pay more for a good chair than the thousands in physical therapy later

Thanks in advance.

I have a Steelcase Leap. We had them at my work and i got the settings just right. It was just perfection. I have never had a more comfortable chair. Sadly it got moved while i was on leave and i could never recapture that magic on any others. Still though, got one for home and it is very good.

I heartily agree with your thoughts on the matter. Good ergonomics is so important. Going from a mediocre set up to a proper one is life changing. So many aches and pains you have gotten used to suddenly disappear.

Never heard of that chair. Just checked them out. $1200 range. Wonder if there is a place around Orlando that has them so I can go try one.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Wow, for real? Honestly I’m surprised. I got mine for 900 in Australia. Prices are almost always higher here. That was 2020 though. Maybe the demand for home offices has cranked the price of them.

An ergonomic, quality office chair.

i didnt know that was the name but my dad got me that chair years ago from his work. it is such a awesome chair. i didnt realize how good it was till it was starting to go on me and i got a secretlab chair and realized how much of a downgrade it was. if u can afford to get 1 i would totally do it

The range is pretty big.
There’s actually a bunch of them around the $480 - $550 range (Series 1).

Hermen Miller was always the name thrown around on this question like 5 years ago back when Razer chairs were at the front of marketing. I’m not sure if they’re still good or more of an overpriced fad.

The fact that their website is running a “End of Year” sale that “ends today” isn’t a great sign lol

As someone who is also over 40, my recommendation for a gaming chair is not a gaming chair.

Get a good sturdy office chair with good lumbar support and decent cushioning instead. I spent like $350 on a really good office chair like six years ago and it’s still hanging in there, and my back doesn’t hurt, which is priceless.

I wouldn’t get a gaming chair. I’d invest in something a little more ergonomic and beneficial for your back.

Gaming chairs are not designed to protect your back. They aren’t worth it at all

Geez. I balk at spending more than $225, but it’s good to try and narrow your options and see if something is on sale, or has a coupon running.

Big and Tall Executive Style. They’re the best, but for some quality you’re looking at upwards of $300+, but I wouldn’t spend more than $500-550, and that’s an extreme in my eyes. My favorite chair was from Sealy’s Posturepedic catalogue, but they basically don’t exist anymore, and have been supplanted by Serta, whom tends to be very hit or miss for me.

I am very picky on armrests, and require them to be cushioned, and up to a specific height range relative to my desk to prevent RSI. As a result of this necessity, I won’t even consider many chairs.

Whatever you do, don’t get conned into getting a “gAmInG cHaIr”. They’re all trash.

1k for a chair. Just stand up dawg

SECRET LABS. I don’t give two fricks if you think it’s overpriced. Secret Labs is the best chair I’ve ever sat in. Get an XL chair get whatever pattern you want, it feels so damn nice. It’s like sitting on a king’s throne.

It’s a nice chair, I have one and it’s just so nice. It’s so worth the price.

Do. Not. Buy. A. Gaming. Chair.

They are scams and have terrible quality, its a $500 chair painted and sold for $1000.

Instead get a hogh quality office chair.

I love my Secretlab Titan XL. Make sure you get the lumbar pillow it’s a must if you do go that route. I’m 6’2 and the XL fits perfectly. I have a DxRacer that’s fine and all but way too narrow so I made the switch to Secretlab. My dad loved it so much he even got one himself and he works from home a lot.

If you have the chance try different chairs out. My friend got a Herman Miller Embody and I gotta say for $2k+ it’s not that special, I actually prefer my chair.

Full disclosure: I use a Herman Miller Embody chair and have for about the last 5ish years and I spend a stupid amount of time sitting in it.

Having said that, I do consider them a bit overpriced, but not a fad (or if they are, they’re very long lived fad).

A good idea is to look for used Aeron or Embody chairs (I bought mine new, because I didn’t know about the used market–if I ever have to replace my existing one, I would try to find a good used one).

A lot of companies bought them for their employees and with the recent layoffs/closures, there may be several on sale and usually in very good condition.

NOTE: Aeron’s come in three sizes (small, medium and large–I think it’s size A, B and C) and depending on your body size/weight you might need to test drive it. Embody is one size fits all.

You dont need something super expensive. You can easily get something like this.

Don’t bother getting a gaming chair. Get a comfortable ergonomic office chair. Don’t buy into the gimmick

Once again, “gaming” chair is marketing gimmick. Get a comfy office chair and it will get the job done. Example:
