Hey Folks —
I would like to run DF on my wife’s machine as a backup only. I know it won’t run the game with the below specs, but what -if anything - can I change/add, etc. to make it work?
'Thanks!
Specs:
Operating System
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU
AMD A8-9600 43 °C
Bristol Ridge 28nm Technology
RAM

Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. A320M-S2H-CF (AM4) 38 °C
Graphics
AL2223W (1680x1050@61Hz)
512MB ATI AMD Radeon R7 Graphics (ATI) 43 °C
Storage
931GB Western Digital WDC WD1002FBYS-05A6B0 (SATA ) 54 °C
Optical Drives

Audio

If its working now it should work in DF but maybe a bit slower. There’s also settings you can manually turn lower through a command but would have to do it every time when logging on.

I think the cheapest option that would work would be to update the Bios and swap the cpu out to Ryzen 5 5600G if you are ok with integrated graphics. If you do go with the 5600g also upgrading the ram to a cheap 2x8gb dual channel 3600 c18 ram kit would be recommended.
If you want more performance i personally would go with a normal 5600 and try to find a cheap $150 used GPU like RX 580 or 1060, 1650 ish level card but its higher cost then the cheap 5600g.

Swap out the Hard drive for an SSD. No other improvement you make will have as big an impact as ditching an old HDD.

i second the ssd suggestion. also if you can get a graphics card. even a 2gb one would be an improvement
