Recommendation of a better Heal addon other than Healbot pls

I have been using Healbot for years, just because its relatively simple to set up and use, but lately it seems to be having issues, (even though I give feedback on the Healbot site to the programmer), but I need some healers out in our WoW world to give me good recommendations of another Heal addon that can be used. Also, I am an old gal who has been playing WoW since 2005 (I am approaching 60), and I have never used a UI addon, but am starting to seriously consider one now. I just need something that gives me all the information I need where I am not having to have my eyes dart all over the screen looking for the information I need, but something that is pretty easy for someone my age to set up too. I mean, I not as techy as some of you younger ones…LOL

I would love some feedback and recommendations! Thanks

You could check out vuhdo. I used to use it for a few months but had a lot of issues with it. I ended up using mouseover macros + default raid frames.

I use the standard WoW raid frames and mouseover macros. The standard raid frames have improved a lot in the last couple of years.

When you say “UI addon,” what specifically are you looking for? Something like Weakauras will provide you with customizable information that you can put close to where your character is on the screen, but it can be tricky to set up unless you copy/paste someone else’s strings.

If you meant an addon that will allow you to move icon bars around, I would suggest Dominos. It’s easy to configure.

I also use Decursive for dispelling.

Actually I was looking for both, kind of, being able to move icon bars around, and have a cleaner looking UI, but have the information of other folks health, my health, buffs, debuffs, aggro, everything in one spot like in the middle of the screen, but not too big that it gets in the way. I haven’t tried vuhdo I may take a look at that also.

Edit: One of the reasons I stuck with Healbot for so long is you just click your left/right and middle wheel on your mouse and you have your major spells that are programmed to those, and you can just click your mouse buttons for other spells (I use an old Naga Razer Mouse). But like I said it seems to be having issues lately, and I am just ready to look at other heal addons.

VuhDo. The default ui that comes with it is pretty ugly, though, so it could take a few minutos of tweaking to make it pretty, or you can import a configured profile from wago website

I think you would really like Healium. Mouseover macros suck. This addon shows you health, mana, aggro, cooldowns, notifies you for dispells, and has a range finder. You can do all the healing with your mouse and have your other hand free for hotkeys. Here’s a SS

Official version is broken. I’ve fixed it but don’t know how to share.

EDIT: theres a version on github https://github.com/Toludin/Healium

I actually use mouse over macros mapped to my naga keyboard for all my healing spells. I use vuhdo as my click to heal raid frames as it shows disspellable debuffs but can run standard raid frames as well.

Another VuhDo user here!

I use mouseover macros and elvui frames. The only thing I dont like about the elvui frames is that it takes a little longer to move your frames around freely. Other than that I love the frames for healing. Its really customizable and makes it really easy to tell who needs to be dispelled. Ive never used healbot, what else does it do that your looking for in another addon?

VuhDo, although it can be a bit tricky to initially configure if you’ve never used it before. Once you figure it out though, you’ll never use anything else.

Healer main, I use Vuhdo. It’s so incredibly customizable and does just about everything I need it to; though the setup does take some work. It’s not going to outperform Healbot out of the box, but once you get the hang of it, it’ll be better.

The reason why mouseover macros suck is that they require both your mouse and your keyboard (both hands) just to take a single action.

With an addon like Healium you are choosing both the spell and the target with your mouse. This frees up your other hand to hover over a different hotkey which allows you to perform more actions faster.

Unless you have a 20-button MMO mouse. I can play one-handed with mouseover macros. xD

default ui

Default UI + Mousover macros.

For example:
#showtooltip Cleanse
/use [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Cleanse

I mouse over my target, just like you would with healbot (at least back when I first used Healbot and threw it out in Wrath), and hit my cleanse button. Make duplicate macros and just swap out the ability name for all your heals and it works just fine and is guaranteed not to break every single patch cycle.

I don’t heal in WoW anymore. But! I like Clique. All it really does it create the mouseovers for you. Adds a 4th tab your spell book. Click that new tab, hover mouse over a skill, press key you want to assign the mouseover to. Done! I would create them for all heals, then resize the default UI and drag it closer to me. Create multiple profiles for party sizes and spec. Great if you like playing multiple healers and/or multiple healing specs on the same character.

While I don’t main heals anymore (sometimes heal a World Boss or LFG dungeon), I do still use Clique for utility spells on DPS. Still works great. Super quick and easy to setup. You can right-click your mouseover keybindings in Clique to make them per-spec and a couple other options.

  1. Even with 20 buttons on your mouse, it won’t work for a BG with 10 teammates. Just 5 spells = 50 buttons needed.
  2. You have to use external software to map all those buttons to keyboard shortcuts, the wow client only supports 5. This means you are wasting keybinds.
  3. You would have to use an action bar space for each button, which is also quite a waste.

Are you really playing like this, or was that just a hypothetical?

EDIT: disregard this, i misunderstood. yes if you have that many buttons on your mouse, mouseover macros can work

You know, I don’t PvP, but . . .

Seriously, what?

Sure, but Logitech has software that works out of the box. I can reach every healing spell in my kit, shapeshift, attack, and CC mobs with a click of my thumb. It’s far and away easier than any other method I’ve used.

So . . . what do you put on your action bar, my dude?

AH! It’s a case of miscommunication. I was SO CONFUSED there for a minute, as you can see above. xD

I’m all about VuhDo, and it has built-in Clique / mouseover ability without having to write macros. Just go to the “Spells” tab and write in the spell you want assigned to each button.
