Pres is the only healer I haven’t tried, other than a dps with bandages, and am curious if they are worth playing? I’m enjoying my RDruid for sure, but a new class might be refreshing. Are they fun? Range limitations horrible?
It’s the most complex healer in the game, relying a lot on spell combos. So if you’re looking for something a little more challenging, preservation has it for you.
The range limitations are an issue on certain encounters in both M+ and raids. Preservation shines when everyone is neatly clumped together, and struggles greatly when everyone is spread out.
Healing wise it has an answer for most everything (arguably except spam healing a single target). It’s main weaknesses are range limitations (it prefers stacked groups or you need to use other tools to work around range issues… real pain in the butt on say, rookery last boss in m+ etc) and needing to combo. By itself pres heals are “eh”. Combod with echo or whatnot, you have tons of CDs available that are relatively short and do impactful things.
It’s arguably the most fun healer to me. It’s a lot more work i think than say, my disc priest was, but i love it.
I enjoy playing my Pre-Voker but it’s not going to be for everyone.

Range limitation is impactful.

You do have quite a versatile toolkit. A little bit of everything, but some of it is underwhelming as a stand alone button press.
-
A lot of the strength is tied up combo’ing abilities and that takes time. In a raid, you might find other healers have an easier time on quick response.

I do enjoy the flavor of it, well of evoker in general but that’s largely individual taste.
Preservation is certainly more difficult than Holy Priest. Pres has few “Oh Shoot” buttons and struggles if you need to throw out a lot of constant healing. It absolutely does take getting used to.
But I love my dragon!
Pres should have more emergency buttons than other healers.
The class itself is a lot of fun and unique, however in mythics and raids it is quite challenging. Especially when the hunter in your group is in the next zone, or when the lock or mage is somewhere behind you and out of range…
