Reckoning Explanation

Can someone explain how reckoning works now?

I will store 4 stacks, drop combat, lose stacks. Is this intended?

Also can’t see redoubt proc’s anymore unless specifically a sword/shield is equipped. Is this also intended?

If it is intended, why make that change?

you drop stack if you swap weapons, I think it may also drop stacks if you zone into or out of an instance.

I don’t play Reck enough to tell you more than that, but this has been my experience.

My pala keeps stacks when out of combat

How recent was that Harland? Guildies are saying after the HC patch, Reckoning doesnt stay and resets once u drop combat.

Pre-patch, ill test tomorrow

oh lord, hope that they did not mess up reckoning. Getting 4 stacks and running around burning stepps one-shotting people was one of my favorite things.

Ok so i keep getting conflicting information.

For me personally, it doesn’t seem to keep reckoning stacks once combat is dropped.

Redoubt is not proccing unless there is a 1h/shield equipped.

Was this an intended change, and if it was, why was it broken/changed?

Reckoning does not gain stacks if you’re auto attacking (not quite but easiest way to understand it). You need to not be auto attacking. The second that you enable auto attack on a target those reck stacks will only be available on that specific target and be lost if you drop combat.

It is very difficult but you can swing, turn off auto attack until your swing timer is up again, swing, turn off auto attack again.

Thank you, so for an example:

I would aggro a mob, such as dual wield pirate. I would get 4 stacks of using the /sit + w combo. I didnt auto attack once or damage the mob in anyway.

I would run away from the mob until aggro is reset, and I would lose the stacks. If i keep the mob aggro’d on me, and engage in pvp the stacks stay.

I used reckoning heavily right up until this most recent patch. I did also play around with it post patch to confirm its working but that I have less data on. Simple as this if you never engage your auto attack you will not lose stacks unless you cross a loading screen or switch weapons. If you engage your auto attack for any reason you will lose your bomb.

ty, its probably user error.

OK sorry I did not respond back sooner.

No its not retaining stacks for me either.. Now I don’t know what is causing this..

1 more thing..

This does not / should not work.

ALSO not sure if you’re doing weapon swapping, but if you’re changing say from Sword and Board to a 2 hander… do not do this, you will drop stacks every time.

The /sit to gain stacks doesn’t work reliably enough anymore to make use of it realistically. It still works with an EXTREMELY tight window now… so using it while in combat isn’t plausible.

Get a swing timer addon and just make a macro:
/startattack
/stopattack

Press it every time you are able to swing and you’re in range of your target. You’ll never lose stacks without gaining benefit again.

ill try it out, ty
