Overly complicated rotations. I main a rogue, but have a maxed out Druid, and Mage and it doesn’t matter which I play. Each of them has an insane amount of offensive abilities with another 4-8 situational abilities. (Feint, cloak of shadow, Vanish, evasion, shiv, etc)
If you simplified the rotation to like 5 abilities, then we can focus more on game mechanics and would have a much more enjoyable experience.
You basically need a rotation addon to do a decent job
It’s like every expansion blizzard just adds a bunch of new abilities but rarely removes them. What’s left is a behemoth amount of abilities that only those who have been playing non stop over 18 years can handle.

To be honest bruh, people complain when they don’t remove buttons and complain when they remove them to simplify things. There literally is no winning here for them since everyone is so different.
Half argue to keep buttons so they have stuff to do in every situation, the other half argue to remove things to simplify the game more.

Listening to players on the forums is like listening to registered voters. All claim to know what they want. Each of them screaming for something differant. No matter what choice you make, one thing is for sure. They will get pissed off

OP, you should try playing a DH, you can play like an elite player pressing just 3-4 buttons

You’re not wrong, actually. Ion got into trouble for saying this in interviews, but he has a hilarious saying of “you think you do, but you don’t” and he says that in reference to when players tell the blizz team what things they want and blizz goes “nah” because they know they can’t please us all and half or more of us can’t actually understand what it is we really want.
Bear druids also only have like 4 buttons, too, that you’ll realistically press in 90% of situations.

Sub is busy when burst window is up. then chills on auto imo.
sin is get them dots on…then auto till refresh.
Outlaw is…a mess. its not combat rogue (I have one in tbcc). You are APM’ing like a fiend pretty much the whole time to compensate for that trash roll the bones. And if RTB hates you…all those button presses have you feel bad from the crap damage you get out.
really hoping rogue is jsut copy pasta of tbcc. for the df tree or gives outlaw a way to work no roll the bones.

All I’m saying is… for a new player… or a player returning after several years, it’s incredibly overwhelming to log in and see 30+ abilities.
Your hot bar should have 8 spots. So they don’t need to delete abilities but force us to choose which of the 8 we use. Forces us to make decisions and prevents things from getting so messy.
Like diablo. I’ve got 10 or so abilities but can only pick 5 at any given time

Oh I understand, but like we said, can’t win either way as some people want the abilities to remain, others want them gone. It’s a lose/lose situation regardless since it’s a loss for the person who wants their philosophy but doesn’t get it, and a loss for blizz since they couldn’t keep that person happy.

No thanks, if anything we need more abilities available, I want disarm in PVE again and demoralizing shout changed to a general AP modifier so DPS warriors can use it for group support.
I was just thinking that it’s weird that mage has so few buttons.

The target demographic for the game is now people who thrive on complexity, who find it inspirational to have many systems, many premium subscriptions to simming and other websites, many convoluted benefits and restrictions, people who love to keep spreadsheets and databases, to do many hours of research and then attempt to duplicate those hundreds of hours of testing that went into those guides until new situations arise and give them more opportunity to repeat this process.

Their middle ground is to have specs that are child prodigy on a piano along side specs that are toddler on a glockenspiel.
I guess it still sucks for those that want to enjoy piano but would rather it didn’t take years of training.

Assassination is already pretty much a 5 button rotation spec, and you can pretty much clear 99% of content without ever pressing feint, evasion or Vanish.
IDK why people advocate for less ability when they can just not use it.

When you return after a long time, I get it… you get overwhelmed. But when you keep playing, muscle memory comes back and you would realize that the rotations are simple.
I understand the dungeons are getting more dynamic as the game stays away from Tank and Spank fights. Players are getting better and so the fight mechanics gets harder and harder. You have to adjust too. That’s what makes WoW dungeons ahead from other MMOs. It is very competitive. And it is a good thing.
If you want simpler WoW, try Classic to go back in time when WoW was a bit simple and easier.

I resub every couple months and am immediately reminded why I stopped playing. It’s not because of overly complex rotations, the skill cap, or the skill ceiling.
This game is just atrociously boring. I will play for maybe one hour tops and then migrate to the forums for the rest of the month to find some use out of my sub. Sub ends in four hours and I’m probably not coming back until Dragonflight.

Mmm, sorry, but gonna have to say that is a you issue. That said, I wish you luck finding something simpler but if I were you, I’d definitely avoid FFXIV. ESO only has a few buttons though, so maybe you wanna try that.

Play a Destro lock, 90% of our rotation is spamming incinerate. If it’s too complex… I have no suggestions that would help you in game or out.

You should try playing a class that doesn’t stunlock, as killing something defenseless should be boring and lame after a while. I can’t have any type of sympathy for a class that keeps their victim unable to respond.
I dunno, with Light Weaving and front and back bar switching… sticking to a rogue theme idea…
Still might be too much.
