Tried them on beta the other day. Still needs a lot of work.
I’m a guardian, so I’m not expecting to buy the next expansion.
My condolences
I’m happy for our GM’s and (some of the) officers to get the first dibs on a mount.
They put a LOT of work into the guild this expansion, and because of that we jumped like 20-30 ranks on the server.
But we have these kind of conversations BEFORE we kill N’zoth. We don’t go into N’zoth thinking that it’s going to be a free-roll and then the GM is like “nah, the Raid Leader(s) are getting the mounts before anyone else”.
I didn’t think they’d ever axe Titanforging, but we got that too.
I thought they would replace it with powers that don’t increase item level to fix the personal loot trading problems which in turn removes the possibility of ML coming back.
Just grab it when it’s on sale unless you plan to quit for a prolonged period of time. You will need it anyways.
I made a thread about that too back in Legion! Man I wish we could bump posts from the old forums. I had some pretty good takes back then.
Now if only we can get some of that 10 man mythic raiding
It’ll come back eventually in a different form if they bleed too many subs from it. I’m eager to see what they have in store for people that was dependent on titanforge for the gear treadmill. Surely they won’t just erase it and not have something. That would be a disaster.
blizzard is owned by activision now. What ever makes the most money is what directs the way the game goes.
I would approve of this.
I imagine its on the table eventually. Playerbase gets too low they will need to make it easier to form the groups to get it done.
That’s how I did it in BfA, but I had a lot of things to do that I was able to complete without BfA.
I don’t expect to be needing it at all. Come mid-expansion, when the date flight will be released is announced, it will be clear that anyone who has not ground their way through the multiple layered systems of the first 2 patches will never catch up.
Everything that’s old is new again, including removal of catch up to make wow more like vanilla, which had no catch up. And was PERFECT!
Is that sarcasm? I hope it’s sarcasm. No catch up kind of sucked. I mean it was great to a degree I agree. But it sure did suck if you was the type of person that had to go away for a long period of time for any given reason. Some people had very good reasons (not me of course) but veterns, truckers, or other people that travel alot. but on the other hand… No catch up made it feel like any time I invested wasn’t completely wasted.
You’re assuming that people consider Titanforging as a net positive though, and that people want a virtually infinite treadmill instead of being able to “finish” a character.
Blizzard have been owned by Activision for almost as long as they haven’t. The merger was 12 years ago.
There are plenty of people who look back fondly on vanilla (and pre-vanilla) mechanics and think changes have been bad for wow. Catch up is one of those that has a number of old-timers posting often that it’s a bad thing and unfair to those who put in the time.
Looking at the devs’ actions, it would appear that a lot of the time they’re in agreement with some of those old mechanics that most people are glad were changed.
Did I come off as assuming? Sorry I tried to make it as neutral as possible. That is why I said things like if they bleed too many subs. The rest however was me simply giving opinion of course. Maybe I should of split the two, my bad.
Who are or were these “people”? It sounds as though you think there was some sort of player consensus on titanforging. There was not. Even among elites not everyone was losing their minds that players who didn’t deserve a 15 ilvl upgrade were getting one every other month. And not every elite player felt compelled to continue to play for that last theoretical 1 ilvl upgrade.
I think most alt players was losing their minds over it. The majority of people I seen having issues with titanforging and AP systems was people with two billion and one alts.
As someone that plays mostly just one character. I agree, and I hate feeling like my time is just being wasted because I could unsub and come back at any time. But, idk. I’m a bit of a empathetic loser I guess. I’m all soft and squishy with a bleeding heart. and I like this catch up systems because It felt really bad for military people who got stuck behind because they was busy doing their duty.
It also caused enormous problems with trading.
Lady Ashvane in Eternal Palace dropped the best-in-slot DPS trinket for a number of specs. I had no use for it, and wanted to trade them away.
Got one, couldn’t trade it, because of ilvl restrictions.
Got a second, couldn’t trade it either, because it was warforged, and ilvl restricitons.
Got a third, and - you guessed it! - titanforged, couldn’t trade it due to ilvl restrictions.
And I never used any of them. All wasted loot that I wanted to give to my friends, but that’s not allowed.
The majority of complaints were by elite players who felt the need to continue to push content because there was no theoretical end to the possibility of titanforges. And they had to have it all.
Elites who had perfectly itemized higher-than-mythic ilvl mythic+ gear started hundreds of threads during Legion complaining that they couldn’t get upgrades in mythic raiding. The solution, as always, was to get rid of LFR.
It had nothing to do with people who actually played alts.
Yeah, I can see that being a issue. Which is honestly why I said before I’d be all for Masterlooting coming back if we was allowed to keep TF. Because it’d resolve that issue for you guys. And I still get the benefits that I enjoyed. Sounds like a no lose situation where everyone should be happy.
Then people could just do LFR for the gear and not have to worry about the Masterloot system at all.
I feel like that was a much smaller portion of the community. Those threads got chewed apart by a ton of people, including people actually progressing in mythic.
Either way, I won’t give up on titanforge. Everytime I cancel my subscription I’ll be sure to point out it’s due to the lack of gear progression in my level of content. Until that gets solved i’ll have very little reason to play. I may or may not be alone. But I feel like I am not, I made a thread awhile back that had 300 likes on it, so I figure there is atleast 20 or so people that agree (i’m assuming they all mass upvoted with all their characters)
