Ion is merely a figurehead. I’ll agree that the decisions he makes is terrible, but he’s put there to take the heat from players from the otherwise horrible decisions that the company makes.
The real fecal stink comes from the suits at the top - even higher than Ion. It’s a money gimmick to try and waste your time so that you don’t have enough time to complete all your goals within a month’s sub time. Nothing more.
Get rid of Ion - they’ll just replace him with someone equally as repugnant and reprehensible, because at this point it’s just their business model.
While I agree that Ion is following directives from higher up, I doubt seriously that his superiors are specifying what changes to make. They’re giving him objectives in regards to budget and (judging from references to a time played metric in investor calls) “player engagement”, but the methods he uses to meet those objectives are his own.
I would be genuinely shocked if someone up the Actiblizz food chain called Ion up one day and said, “Remove player controlled flight from the game.” That was Ion’s solution to whatever directives he was handed down for WoD…or maybe, it was his solution to the game obviously being badly behind schedule, since the removal of flight would have made it far easier to build a world using visual illusions and facades rather than creating in three dimensions.
Very likely I wont be back anyway.
I play games to have fun, not to be annoying by petulant children.
They dont seem to be interested in changing the game plan theyve had to ruin the game for the last three expansions.
Im keeping my accounts as they are with some hope for the future, and I’ll at least be able to hop on in a year or so just to see if theyve grown up or not.
But as far as paying subs every month to play, their infantile controlling ways have destroyed any chance of that.
The thing that you’re not addressing here, though, is the toxic culture of Activision. It doesn’t matter whose idea it was to remove flight. Or whose idea it was to remove the portals. Bobby Kotick himself is quoted as saying that one of his goals was to “take all the fun out making video games.” Another thing that he said about the working environment at Activision was “I think we’ve definitely been able to instill in the culture the skepticism and pessimism and fear that you should have in an economy like we’re in today.”

Anyway - point being - it doesn’t matter if it’s Ion there, or someone else. The decisions will still be player unfriendly, and no matter who it is, the only people who will be happy are the investors and Bobby Kotick himself.
This got off topic for a minute it seems,
are we still giving feedback for the portal loss?
Its terrible, Unnecessary, uncalledfor and this is my contribution to this post, almost 10k posts strong now. Revert portal changes please.
I asked that Thrallmar Mage for a port to Hellfire and he ignored me!
Really not liking the removal of the Kara portal. Not feeling plunking down the g for that ring either.
Kotick dude sounds like a clown football coach that gets hyped and hired, has 5 losing seasons in a row and then is canned in such a spectacular manner that no one is ever dumb enough to hire anyone that even looks like him ever again.
Sad thing is, I’m pretty certain I -HAD- the ring but felt safe vendoring/destroying it because it was completely redundant and I wanted the bag slot back.
And because THERE WAS NO {incoherent cursing} REASON TO EXPECT BLIZZARD TO {incoherent cursing} DELETE THE DALARAN PORTAL.
Heck I was still using Jaina’s Locket to teleport to OLD Dalaran for quick CoT access so that I wouldn’t trip the cooldown on the dalaran hearthstone.
I’d try if it would help… but only my main got one, and he has -everything- from Kara. My leather/mail/plate alts probably still have items to farm though, and will, I guess, have to see about getting the ring for themselves at some point.
you have to love the one poster here or in the other thread who was saying we could just fill our bags with portal items to replace the portals
Yeah…thats a trade off that makes sense.
Honestly, I dont care at this point what happens to WoW or the companies involved.
Im more upset about this everyday. I dont know if I can say anything else that hasnt already been said, but if 10k posts dont tell you you messed up, I dont know what will. Do the right thing & put the portals back!
Exactly! When they got rid of ghetto hearthing, they made up for that by cutting the cool down on our hearthstones to half an hour. That was back when they actually listened to player concerns. The new portals rooms, while well and good on their own, do not, by any means make up for the lost portals.
they could just use the tram like lowbies have done since inception…?
yeah but i didn’t think of that during my moment of “sheep panic”.
…kind of not the point though, the point was that someone claimed there was no cd, when there is.
…but let’s not let facts get in the way of a good finger waggling.
i don’t need to speak for them… are you unable to see their posts?
you don’t speak for me, so don’t try and speak for me.
don’t invent your own rules about who is “allowed” to post here.
big leap.
it’s not about offending women.
every time something old is changed, we see the sort of reaction we’re seeing in this thread.
people don’t like having pixels shuffled.
players who put countless time and/or gold into farming appearances, want those appearances… not a remastered version.
i haven’t.
i don’t need to.
i’m not doing anything on anyones behalf other than my own, and the warm fuzzy feeling which comes from helping other players.
for someone who keeps saying they don’t care, you sure seem to care an awful lot.
what are you hoping to gain by continuing to post?
yep, we’ve established that your sole reason for being here at this point is trolling son.
and to whoever said mages are being constantly pestered for ports, i feel like i’m playing a different game to you.
i haven’t had anyone ask for a port… it’s almost as if experiences vary.
