I have 100 exalted so Keepers of Time must be one of them.
What portal under Legion Dalaran?..it’s floating over the ocean. If you mean Northrend Dalaran, that one for the mage quest? The ones we used before Northrend flying when we had to go down there for cooking quests? People use that one??
I used to use the Winter-watwuzitcalled portal from Dalaran when going to the west side of Northrend. When we had it under control. Just one of those opportunistic portals.
I guess being here continuously since 2005 makes it easier for me to go do stuffs throughout the xpacs.
Well, atleast we have a new diablo expansion to look forward to
Pretty sure Jaina flying a ship to Undercity “just in time” and then, while keeping it aloft, dispelling plague magically AND firing arcane cannons to destroy the wall “destroyed the meaningful size” of the world.
This team is so blatantly and transparently inconsistent with where they dig their heels in versus where they say; “Oh yeah that’s NBD we can overlook that SO WE GET A COOL CUTSCENE,” etc.
Want to bring Gul’dan and the orc warlords back? Let’s have an arbitrary trans-dimensional expansion. That went really well and did wonders for the narrative…

I’m doing it right now!
I’m logged into WoW to read the forums…
World of Warcraft is so massive, not just the world but the player base. Even if it’s far less than it was, it’s still a huge player base. Truth is, there is NO way to please everyone or even attempt to. However, when something like this is done and they explain it but it still doesn’t make sense I feel it’s just being done to annoy the player base. I don’t play a lot of alts, and I don’t mind travel time but I can really see how it would get annoying very fast.
If you do care about the feedback, then don’t take away what we still use and want. Make a poll, find out what your player base wants because ultimately at some point WoW will fall, and your player base is your cash source. Not some grand plan, not the dev team and not the owners, the player base is why WoW still exists.

It’s really sad because I think a lot of us who are struggling with BFA really do want to enjoy the game, but changes like this that work against the players make it extremely difficult. I agree with those who have said this is part of “a death by a thousand cuts.” Keep pushing, Blizz, and people will continue to leave.

I’m all for cleaning up the SW & Org portals into one place, but what difference would leaving the other really make. I’m sure if you asked 1000 people what would improve the game, “less portals” wouldn’t be the answer from any of them.
FYI, when you’re considering decisions like this (or delaying flight for that matter), consider the likely age range of your fan base. When I started playing, I was in university with a crappy part time job and no responsibilities. Now I work 40 hours a week and have a house to take care of, I don’t have time to appreciate your “big world”, I just wanna play the damn game.

No worries, I had some to spare
Why are you destroying this game? Legit question.

“We hear you, we disagree. We read the posts about boredom, alt-tabbing, dual screening, or just flat out choosing not to do old content out of the irritating time it requires to get there. We are going to double down on “big world feel” despite not putting things into the world to reward you for looking at it and experiencing it. Because nothing makes a fantasy world engaging like a freaking commute am i right?
Now, none of these are MY words. These are words handed down to me by the developers and management teams, so please flame me as hard as you can so they can feel like they made the right choice and any criticism of the game that they dont want to address is solely the province of toxic people. Im going to go find the other two or three people left at blizzard who remember how to talk to other human beings like people and not like stopwatches representing time-played and cuddle together while the nazgul stalk outside the break room door.”

Your game is dying, has no content, no reason for travel like in other games with random events and such between point a and b. Yet you’re worried about portals to old content, lol. Stop pissing your community off over and over… holy crap you guys are not the brightest bunch.

Old weathered petty dev whose prime time was the 90s early 2000s says something out of touch with the player base: OP

My point is you don’t get to hold immersion aloft as the end-all be-all reason of doing something/not doing something only when it’s convenient to your argument/ulterior motives. That’s not how “immersion” works.

Sometimes that is the best thing to do with it. Heavens, I wish they did it with more things that people complain about in the forums. Maybe we wouldn’t have Titanforging or Personal Loot in the game if they didn’t bow to the forums’ entitlement crowd. The game would be all the better for it in my opinion.

LOL. That was a nice needed laugh after all this. Thank you.
First off, very grateful for the response to the thread with a fairly fleshed out reason.
That being said I feel your goals don’t really go together. You claim you want the world to “feel bigger” but also want to funnel players into one central location to promote player interaction.
At least from my point of view the largest amount of complaints is revolving around the more unique locations such as karazhan and dalaran cater, with Caverns of Time being the biggest one (i’d bet having a CoT portal in the portal room would probably satiate a majority of players protesting these changes). Unlike major cities, these locations are fairly out of the way and have more niche reasons for going there. These reasons (usually mount or xmog collecting) are usually solo content and the zones associated with them have been visited many times before. By removing the portals players are stuck traveling through old zones they’ve already seen and are certainly not running (read flying) into any other players nor interacting with them.
Relocating these portals I think is a good thing overall. it will look better and be less confusing for new players in the future. However removing portals completely from the game is just annoying for players.
