Rearranging and Removing Portals

The portals much like resurrection abilities are for player convenience not NPCs. In lore portals are very difficult to maintain. But, for player characters they are there to make travel easier. It makes no more sense to remove them than removing the ability to resurrect players after dieing.

Don’t give them any more ideas

Portals get you across the world(s) quickly.

Flying gets you from a hub to a minor spot or another hub quickly.

They aren’t the same thing.

so what you’re saying is that using a portal to uldum to get you across the world quickly then flying to caverns of time is perfectly reasonable. i understand.

at least you all get to fly in those zones, isn’t that what you all want? to fly around? now you get to fly around!! and explore also with flying!! woohoo!!

TFW someone doesn’t understand why people want both flying and portals. Its convenience. People want convenience. Holy cow (no offense) people are so dense to why people want portals its ridiculous.

those are still there. though i’m sure you’d like the option to just portal to where you click on the map. that would be rather convenient.

Of course there’s an equal and opposite design consideration—“don’t make it too inconvenient to get from most places to most other places”. Some amount of convenience is vital.

If I wanted to play World of Tedium I’d play EQ or its various children. It’s sad to see that you clearly didn’t get the point players were trying to make and have continued on this misguided and abhorrent path. Increasing travel times only increases tedious and unnecessary pain to the player. If you didn’t want to create portals, then don’t create them in the first place. Removing them after the fact is spiteful and arrogant.

Too many eliminations of the distances between places can diminish a sense of the world having a meaningful size.

I think this is absolute garbage and I’m tired of hearing this trite excuse over and over again. The RPG elements of this game were purged ages ago when classes and specs were pruned to death. This game can’t hide behind that flimsy excuse and claim its still an RPG anymore.

I would 100% be okay with Portals wherever I click. Because I have too many alts and have played way too long to deal with long flights from Orgrimmar to CoT.

O.o i have over 40 alts. i farm. the removal of caverns of time is the only one that bugs me a bit but its not even close to a huge deal.

The world has no meaningful size because you’ve let old zones die except for leveling. You want the world to feel big? You want people to use more zones than the current ones? MAKE them meaningful, give us incentives but then again this is the same bunch that can’t get proffesions right after 13+ years /sigh

It shouldn’t be this hard to listen to your players but to them it’s like if they do the world is ending.

Its like when youre dating someone and its WAY too much work just to be in the relationship.
I dated one young woman in the 80s that,…omg was SOO possessive that it was driving me nuts. I tried to sit down and talk it out with her so she could stop obsessing about my every move, but no dice.
It finally broke us up. I couldnt take it anymore and ended it.
When a relationship is that much excessive work that shouldnt be there, its time to let it go.
My marriage today is nothing like that. It just ‘works’ in every way all by itself.

What’s reasonable is a portal that gets you to a zone/region, and then using flying to bypass the “terrain challenges” (ie: trees and mountains) to get directly to your point, bypassing all the mobs that probably won’t aggro you anyway because of your high ilvl etc etc etc.

Also, those 4 people seem to change alts to post, so they make others think they’re different people.

I have over 50 Alts and I dont even farm the CoT and it IS a big deal that they keep removing crap like Master Loot for NO GOOD REASON.
