Realm Transfers

I have been following Classic since the announcement. I found myself extremely excited about the idea and couldn’t wait to jump in.

I subscribed to try and get a beta invite… Didn’t Happen
I Subscribed for the Launch… - 48 hours later I’ve never made it into the same server as my friends…

Does Blizzard plan to allow Realm transfers for free? I am at the point where I’m going to play on a low population server so I can actually get in the game…

Have there been any responses from Dev about this?

No and No.

Go re-roll just like in Vanilla. Re-rolling occurred for months when the game went live.

As someone who thoroughly remembers vanilla in 2004-2005. I also recall the length of time and commitment it takes to get to level 60. I have no intentions of re-rolling…

I do appreciate the standard “This is how it is, deal with it” responses though. Thank you.

I guess I could queue the server at 5 am PST and run anti-afk scripts and macro’s like the majority of their player-base is doing.

No one one is talking about the lengthy amount of time to level…we get that.

But re-rolling and not waiting in queues > then sitting on same one to save yourself a few hours of time you already invested.

I mean if people want to sit in queues for say 3-6 hrs multiple days, that adds up way more then just re-leveling and bypassing where you are now by a large margin.

This is also where I get confused when people ask for realm transfers.

Server transfers from a low realm to a high realm aren’t going to happen.

I’m an adult professional now days, at the end of the day I have other things I can be doing. I’m not sitting watching the Queue screen. But in two days I can say without a doubt I’m watching less and less. Checking back less, and ultimately will unlikely attempt to even login today.

As a fan and someone who played Launch through Wrath. If I’m becoming discouraged this easily, what does that mean for the longevity of Classic?

I guess ultimately it doesn’t matter, But I do have other irl friends who have decided to shelf it and check back in a month or two. The hype about a populated launch with people everywhere is a fickle thing.

Furthermore I don’t feel in a progress/level based game it’s unrealistic for people to be interested in their progress.

If you invest time in something, you normally want to see the return. I.E. re-rolling a lvl 8 character, meh whatever.

Getting to 30 or 40 on a server you don’t want to play on? And can’t transfer? Meh.

except your missing one of the largest issues that negates your arguement. People rolled on specific servers to be with their guilds and friends.

I rolled with my guild and theres 100+ of us. I also have different groups of friends whom rolled on this same server with me. We want to play together. We want to play a SOCIAL GAME with those we chose to socialize with.

Blizzard needs to open a new server with no character creation, offer free xfer for guilds and players to the new server to ensure those who have names saved (which we payed for) can get the names - then after a few days open up character creation on that server.

So are you saying you dont want transfers to be available to help mitigate ques for huge numbers of the player base so they can play the game with their friends? Seems like a rat quality.

maybe more like a worm

I don’t get this either.

People want to play together so bad that they keep progressing further and further while the other half sit in an hours long queue.

Then do it and stop complaining.

Most toxic community ever…

The point of online gaming is the journey and playing with people you want to play with.

  1. I am Pro-Server transfer so progression isn’t being halted by a poor launch tactic from Blizzard.

  2. Forcing people on Low pop servers so they can even log in should be remedied in the future.

  3. MMOs are Social by nature, I don’t play this game to play Solo. And I have no interest in the Nostalgia of classic other than playing with friends I played with back in the day.

  4. The fact that people are running AHK scripts to anti-afk queues to get into the game is a PROBLEM.

Free transfers dont hurt you and if you care about the classic community you’d support it. If you can’t understand how people want to be on the same server, same guild. But can’t link up playtime’s to all play together in a linear leveling fashion right after launch, then idk what to tell you. Your not dealing with the issue otherwise you’d have empathy. So why tip tap on the keyboard bud.

its alot harder when youve got 100+ people to coordinate, our guild already has 30+ people between 25-35 last i checked. If your friends took time off work and sacrificed vacation time to put time into leveling its hard to tell them to just re-roll, but vice versa you cant play or play as much as them because of other responsibilties.

But all im getting from your response is that you are against the solution of that with opening up server Xfers in the manner I offered.

So are you against the idea of server xfers? cause it seems like you’re nitpicking a small portion of my arguement and just completely ignoring the solution for my own arguement and others.

You’re already level 30, or just complaining?

If you’re under level 15, rerolling isn’t a huge loss of “investment”.

Both these guys hit the nail on the head. Why would Blizzard not be willing to accommodate a fan base they most likely recently reclaimed.

This isn’t retail, you can’t group with anyone on our friend’s list regardless of realm. You need to be on the same server with your guild and friends.

If half your crew can’t get in, that’s a PROBLEM.

The classic launch has fractured our guild. Half of us are on Fairbanks and using Remote Desktop solutions to queue in before leaving work. The other half (my half) can’t beat the Fairbanks queue boss and are on Rattlegore with a more manageable queue. The half on Fairbanks don’t want to reroll because, in part, they expect blizzard will ultimately come up with a solution that will allow us to meet up somewhere. I think server transfers are the only reasonable remedy at this point, but I have no confidence in blizz adopting that in a timely fashion.

In the interim, I guess we’ll participate on parallel tracks in classic and get together for our weekly heroic palace clear in retail. It’s a pretty awful situation though and I’m pretty annoyed by the silence so far.

I am un-willing to play on a server my friends are not playing on.

So we can nix this repetitive rhetoric.

Okay, then bye.

If facing a queue the first few days of launch is this terrible for you:

(1) Reroll
or
(2) Wait

I’m over 15, so is my brother. So are my guildmates.

Now what? Wanna just support transfers instead of arguing with the community. It wont hurt you, taxes wont go up.

Don’t worry about it… folks are trolling to keep themselves entertained while in queue times

You’re right, server transfers (obvs. from High Pop to Low Pop) are a must. They were needed in Vanilla to balance it out, they’re needed here. I get Blizzard wanting to delay things a bit because they know a lot of people are gonna bail within the first month, but I feel like there are other solutions.

I realize #nochanges and all, but I feel like since we already have layering, a bit of dynamic realm distribution might have been appropriate. At least for the first month or so while the population settles. If a zone is high pop, just move it to a different server. It’s 2019, I’m not even sure why we had to open up new servers at all.
