Realm Swapping to dominate Auction houses on other servers

I realise that markets are markets, but people have been swapping realms on characters with the notion that they can dominate auction houses on other servers. I don’t mean playing on that server. I mean using the realm swap to move extrordinarily cheap crafted goods to a server where no one can even make them for what they can be sold for at a 500-1000% mark up.
This has been a problem for most of this expansion, but it’s gotten worse in the last month on Aerie-Peak. In the course of making a Shadowghast Necklace (291) to place on AH, the price dropped from 49k to 13.9k. Sure enough, when I checked someone had placed 20 of them in AH for that lower price.
I don’t think they should be at 49k, but the majority of 291 base items are on sale for less than 9k right now.
People should not be able to move goods in large amounts to other servers like that. it removes any ability what so ever for people on that server to make any gold at all.
A person on Stormrage could buy tokens for realm swap and load up an alts bags and bank with 1-2k gold priced goods, swap realms and sell for 10-15k gold. It completely overwhelms the market. and the person that does it makes millions of gold.
Horrible practice and it should be banned!

craft mats are region-wide as of august

so every server has access to dirt-cheap mats

hence, dirt cheap leggos

I don’t know if there’s any way other players can help you (this is a primarily player-to-player helpdesk), but feedback is better put in General Discussion or in the in-game suggestion tool. The blue posters this forum are not Devs, and the Devs don’t come to this forum to look for feedback.

Generally speaking, people can only move what they can carry in their bags, or if they move a whole guild, then the guild bank too. But anyone can do this.

If you feel that there should be a change to paid services, or what players can take with them, then you’ll need to post in the General forums as the CS forums are not visited by those who would make decisions on these sorts of things.

But generally speaking, anyone can sell anything they want on the AH for any price that they feel people are willing to pay for it. Many items can be crafted without the need to for anything other than time spent grinding the mats, so every last gold they make is profit too. That’s not against the rules nor is buying low and selling high.

I can’t speak for necklaces, but I can craft right this minute 291 cloth legendaries for 4835-6970G, depending on piece.

I know I got a 291 ring base for like 35k on Moon Guard. Of course now that I need the keather wrist piece, it was over 100k last night when I was shopping. WRA the wrist was 45k.

Find a friend; I can’t imagine the materials are much more over 5k in cost.

My leveled leatherworker ironically is on WRA, which isn’t doing my MG gals any good. The market fluctuates easily, so I’ll grab them eventually or find someone with the pattern.

Out of curiosity I calculated that as of 1928H, the cost to craft 291 leather wrists is exactly 4712.04, based on lowest raw material pricing.

people can move around as much as they like, its a free market.

But also realise that those items will be superceeded in 2 months so everyone is dumping stock for whatever they can get right now. The AH market for the next couple months till DF drops will be just mostly guilds, farmers and moguls decluttering banks and getting rid of now basically worthless stuff as quick as possible.

I know that we’re near the end of Shadowlands and that things will be replaced soon. That said, there is still a market for alts and returning players. I liked the effort to compile mats Amaelalin, but thta was one of the cheapest items to make, being LW and wrist. Several items are in the 10-15k gold range still, like rings and necklaces. Folks on this server could sell them for 20-25k easily if this wasn’t happening. I placed this post in Customer service because I consider this practice to be an abuse of in game services. At this point all items must be on one server for NA. It’s the only fix I can see. Otherwise this sort of thing will continue to destroy economies.

This is the answer. No one needs to take a bunch of items from one realm to another, the price of crafted components fell through the floor once all crafting components became region-wide recently.

Because the cost of making items is a fraction of what it used to be, generally the price of a finished crafted item has gone down sharply due to increased competition and a new price point is found.

This could also have happened:

Multiple players were leveling their crafting, one dumped their product on the AH for 7K…

Several more players leveled their crafting and dumped their product on the AH, seeing the price for 7K they all posted at that price too.

Then someone with TSM scanned the AH for deals, saw these multiple items at a really low cost, bought them and then reposted at a higher amount, readjusting the price upwards.

Being able to craft as many items as you have materials for and dumping the market is a bigger issue for price stability than someone spending $25 to move servers for magical millions.

Ummm, you do realize it’s the end of the shadowlands road, and folks are dumping goods in an effort to make something before those become completely worthless, right?

Why would you think someone is paying to transfer stuff? My guild bank has a tab FULL of legendary pieces that will never get used. And I just don’t want to bother making peanuts, they will end up being deleted…

Just to clarify Seumas, that response was directed to to Leilleath as she was considering sourcing some leather wrists.

Also to clarify, the costs are now region-wide… it doesn’t matter where anyone is located in the region, as it now costs the same everywhere to buy materials from the auction house to craft with. Realm-swapping can provide seed money to someone moving to a (new to them) server, but no longer represents the same ability to “buy low, sell high” as it had before.

The regional auction house is a massive change.
