And yet I just logged back into the game and there it is, the good old Realm screen.

The realm select thing isn’t a bug, there is an issue where a lot of people haven’t been able to play at all since maintenance. They deliberately disabled the automatic realm select because they thought it was related to why some of us haven’t been able to log in.
Today’s maintenance is to solve the bigger problem that the people here whining about an extra click are lucky enough not to have had to deal with.
Yes, let’s inconvenience the 99% for the 1%… Sounds vaguely familiar.
BTW, did it fix it?
Also, I don’t see hotfixes for yesterday (the 22nd), so where is this even posted that they PURPOSELY did this.

Who’s whining Buddy? We are reporting what appeared to be a problem on the Bug Forum. Is it a problem? Who knows, because Blizzard doesn’t tell us. As they say in the classics, take a chill pill.

One of my accounts keeps logging into the realm I used for the M+ tournament straight to the player list even though that was a few weeks back. The others pull up the choose the server screen. Last night I logged out of all of them after playing remix, so they should all be at the same point but it’s like they have two or three week amnesia.

Good morning,
It’s currently normal that you have to select your server when logging into the game. This is a temporary fix to another issue, where some players couldn’t change their realms.
Please also remember to follow the forum’s code of conduct when posting here. We understanding that having to select your server every time you log into the game can be a bit annoying, but this is no reason to be disrespectful to other forum goers. Thank you!

Sad to say Midnight will probably be my last hurrah for WoW. I will still probably log on and do things from previous expansions and level new toons and/or vibe in the old zones I love but… I mean, with the continuous problems and getting zero help from Blizzard regarding ANYTHING, it’s become an extremely frustrating game to play after 15+ years of mild frustrations, lol.

Yeah, going to have to disagree with you on this one. It’s not normal, hasn’t been normal since 2004. I get it may have been a fix that cures another issue or ailment, but it’s not normal when concerning the majority of the player base. Actually it’s fairly annoying.
I like to see my favorite toons immediately when logging in, not stare at 50 servers where I have zero toons. Put it back please.
In short, I don’t like change but I’m glad it fixed something else.

I think this is yet another in a long line of examples that prove two things:
- Wow doesn’t properly test things. I mean, how can this possibly be a bug that didn’t get seen? And if it truly is a “fix” to something else, then it’s a shamefully lazy fix.
- Blizzard simply doesn’t care about user experience anymore. The sheer amount of bugs and ill-working mechanics in this game that have been there for literal years at this point shows that every ounce of effort is aimed at the next new shiny money-maker, all the while eroding their user base trust and respect. It’s a shame they don’t see that, and it’ll be too late for them when they finally do.
This is a small thing. But it’s indicative of a much larger trend of launching half baked products and getting in over their heads. Blizzard, if you see this, we can do without all the new fanciness every single expansion or patch. Fix. Your. Game.

I cant even log into the realm right now. I select shadow council and it just loads and then disconnects. What is going on?

Same, every time I log back into one of my accounts it reverts to the tournament realm (and shows me the tutorial tips on the screen for the warband background etc.) even though I leave the account on log out on my main realm.

Ah yes, the “Fixed a bug, but caused another bug in the process” kind of fix. What’s the ETA on a fix for the fix?

+1, happening to me too. Tried scan, rename folders, changing folders to not read-only option. Nothing works
