Realm population. website vs ingame correct?

So. At the moment. My characters are on the us realm Velen. But the population is low and i want to make the switch to us realm Lightbringer.

When i look up the real population on the wowrealmpopulation website. for velen it says there are about 2700 characters overall. plus the eonor combination which brings it up to about 8000
When i look up the realm population for Lightbringer it is about 14000 overall.

this confuses me because ingame populatin. velen is high and lighbringer is medium

Velen. 2700+ High
Lightbringer. 14000+ medium

how does this make sense

Switch to a full server unless you’re going for friends.

Full is “full” which means you’ll actually see people from your server running around in the world.

It completely changes the gaming experience.

I want to say that the server numbers likely aren’t entirely accurate.

I know the /who list has been broken/buggy for several years.

It’s hard to get a legitimate count on the amount of players playing the game.

Fairly sure Blizzard also had something to do with breaking it as well, because they probably didn’t want players to report actual player numbers. /tinfoil

Seconding this. Even “high pop” servers feel kind of sad. IMO if you’re not on a “full” realm (it’s not actually full, it’s not locked, there are no queues), you’re on a dying realm.

I see. i will get to looking then. thanks for the help
