Realm names? When?

Great, so you think reserving names on the server you plan to play on is pointless. Good for you.

The thousands that will utilize this service promptly obviously disagree with you.

Then why do you believe blizzard is having name reservations 2 weeks prior to launch?

Because the day the name reservations go live, there will be youtube videos and twitch streams with people going and reserving names, and it will be a ton of extra hype and marketing for free. Actually, they’ll actually be getting paid for it, since people will be getting subbed in advance.

It also plays psychologically on people. It is a Fear of Missing Out situation, even if they are literally missing out on the potential to name their character Noobslayer, and will have to go with Noobslayer1, or maybe, depending on how late they are, Noobslayer1138. Because of this, people freak out and act like idiots over something that doesn’t actually matter that much.

Over 1.5 million people bought the single for Hanson’s Mmmbop in the US alone. That doesn’t mean it was a good song, or that buying it wasn’t a stupid thing to do. Just because a lot of people do something, doesn’t mean they aren’t idiots.

I want to play on Asmongold’s server!

How are we supposed to create our characters if they are not on a realm?

So I assume they will need to announce it before the 13th.

God, no kidding. I want the most authentic Classic experience I can get… no cringeworthy cults. I’ve already had experience with that in another MMO before WoW came out.**

**Had a “cult” form on my FFXI server which lasted for seemingly a year. If you went to camp a NM (rare spawn), they would “tell you to leave “or else”” or “get their leader’s permission”. The leader even charged his members “dues” just to be in his “group” which they actually paid him via paypal.

It was very cringeworthy…

I am surprised at this point that they haven’t announced anything.

I guess they are waiting on the last stress test.
