I wonder… Will Blizzard name the new classic servers after the original servers? That way people can roll back to their old stomping grounds and possibly run into familiar players. I think this would be cool for many returning players.

Would be a good idea, just pick the names of the top Retail servers.
Mine was really low population and never had queues (Akama), I probably wouldn’t go back to it, but it would still be neat to see some names that I’ve forgotten.
the pvp realms should be named after the top pvpers from vanilla who made videos we all watched.
the pve realms should be named after the world first guilds and top pve people.

My personal preference is “new” names, and the one idea several of us had come up with way back was the dragons of the bronze (PvE) and timeless flights (PvP). It would be fitting with Chromie’s discombobulator and the idea of going back in time.
While I love the realms I’ve played on, I don’t really want the overlap of ideas what a realm will be like - with certain individuals trying to make the community to develop like it was before, or hating on others for not being “originals”? No thanks.
And please, PLEASE, no to naming it after players and guilds!

I think you mean top Vanilla servers. Server populations have shifted a lot over time. My home server, Dethecus, for example used to be a pretty big deal. You may have heard of Angwe, who played on Dethecus.
But after vanilla it didn’t do so well and pretty much started dying after WotLK and is now pretty much completely dead.
Ah hell, I heard of him, he’s my inspiration that got me into playing a rogue.

They should name them after some of the original devs from the Vanilla days.

Either iconic Classic things or Bronze/Infinite. Though naming a server “The Barrens” would be pretty funny in a way.
