Realm forums

Anyone go and look at their realm forums any more?

Just checked out Durotans and it was depressingly dead save for a handful of guild recruitment posts.

The old Vek’nilash forums were a wonderful hive of scum and villainy. We had a whole bunch of drama during the BC/early Wrath era that made everything really interesting. Nowadays it’s nothing but recruitment posts. Kind of a shame.

It is a shame. Was almost like going back to the boardwalk you loved as a kid and seeing nothing but derelict buildings and junkies.

About as dead as the class forums

The last post in my realm forums was two weeks ago.

most realms are dead after the decline of WoW

merging them did nothing to help them, and seeing as this game is not as social as it used to be, I’m not surprised.

Even the General Forums aren’t as popular as they used to be say 5 years ago

I used to have my realm forums all bookmarked, but I haven’t updated them since this new forum makeover. So, basically I haven’t checked any of my realms’ forums in well over a year. I don’t feel like there’s much of a point to individual realm forums anymore. Even something like this is becoming outdated. The general majority of people who play games communicate through social media and discord nowadays. Forums in general are becoming an outdated part of the internet.

Nope. Literally nothing on Aggramar/Fizzcrank (didn’t even know those two were connected) except recruitment and me just now saying hi to all of them.

You’re pretty much right on the social media/discord aspect, never really saw it from that perspective.

It makes sense, a lot of guilds within WoW would rather use discord than communicate in guild chat, this is a trend I’ve noticed where guild chat is pretty much dead on most guilds I’ve been on.

Realm forums been dead since wrath tbh.

5 years? It’s not as lively as it was even 2 years ago now. It’s a ghost town compared to what it was before.

Very rarely have I ever gone to realm forums in the life of WoW.

I think the only exception was back in the day when Blackwing lair wasn’t dead. During BC I was camping Zangarmarsh in town at an area where the guards wouldn’t attack you shadow bolt spamming allies to death.

Made someone so mad they actually made a post about me on the forums, but those are old times. Nobody from your own server even shows up when you log in anymore, It’s people from other servers / shards.

Moon Guard has a Tombstone inscription thread going that’s kinda fun.

I think they were largely replaced by Discord and Facebook groups. I don’t use either platform, but my sister who RP’s a lot is in the Wyrmrest Accordians and Emerald Dreamers group.

Non-RP servers might have less community though.

ED Forums died a bit after the Twitter update in WoD.
