From the sounds of how long it takes to do it properly it would be and probably should have been a WOD prepatch thing (if they are doing WOD to begin with, and if not this is too little too late and should be left alone in MOP.)

blizzard is clueless as ever.
they don’t even know that most players from the the low population servers will for sure quit wow once they witness and experince the environment on the mega servers.
not only that your community and friends will struggle to meet across tons of layers but also whenever you go anywhere it will be crowded, and you will encounter too many ****** player in the mega server, u will find chat being spammed and the farm will be impossible for you while the economy will be super inflated.
i have seen many people who moved from small server into big server ending up quitting for various reasons, you people won’t stand it, it is the same as a peaceful person living in a small village all his life suddenly moved into a very noisy/crowded place in a city. your wow life will be over soon.

Losing guild achievements isn’t ruining the game, but forcing everyone onto a mega server is, just like cross realm zones ruined it the first time.

Keep doing what you are doing Blizzard. This is 100% the right move and has always been the right move. In fact, we should of had a mega server before Cata ended. I cannot wait to be able to actually pug whenever I please again.

Assuming that when they say:

They only mean new unique players and not existing players being able to create new characters.
Someone I chatted with mentioned possibly being able to:
- Transfer a lower level alt from home realm named abc for example, to the new realm.
- Then you create a new character on home realm named abc you transfer that character and it forces you to change the name.
- You name this character the same as your main.
- You repeat this down the list of characters you have that you wish to rename.
It might not work if all realms get closed to new characters, because this method could be abused by malicious players(a very small percent, could try to grief others). But if you did it with good intentions, you could create a lvl 1 now, with your ideal character name, if it’s available. Then if anything does happen, you could argue that you aren’t trying to steal anyone else’s character name because you already held it on your account?
I wish we had the option to go directly to Pagle or the connected realms, I don’t care about about names
My 6mo is a monthly while we wait to see if they kill my server.
Sadly there aren’t enough people to sack up and hit the button. Sheep make a lot of noise, but always fall in line. If everyone that was posting about it cancelled they would feel it and the shareholders would want to know why. Then they get to explain that they pulled a stupid on the level of realid and removing flight.

Sorry Fwoibles but respectfully no one wants this change.
I rather wait till the end of MoP when the WoW server team can addresses this than do this half lazy realm transfer. People have spent “YEARS” with their Guilds and built memories along side it, this is beyond tone deaf.
Again you mentioned this idea of TIME AVAILABLE, why create this false sense of urgency?
You have it within your power to stop this and wait for a better time, not force this update handfisted because you and the other developers want it. No one supports this idea at all, I urge you to reconsider before you kill MoP classics

See the problem is I don’t believe you.
This might have something to do with being the last Alliance guild on Whitemane at the end of TBC, when we ponied up the cash to move ourselves because not even a transfer sale ever came to help us… and we went to grob because we knew the benediction queue at LK launch was going to be killer.
You folks don’t seem capable of correctly gauging ‘fun’ when it has to be weighed against draining money from my bank account.
You can’t do a proper set of server merges/connections because your database team is busy with retail? Babe the server populations have been a problem for literal YEARS we have been BEGGING for your help did you not notice before last week

Financial quarter ends on the 30th, loads of people are going to log to transfer, active player count is inflated, quarterly report looks good, classic team gets their Xmas bonus. That’s the time constraint.

Have you also locked the ability for people to transfer a toon over to the destination realm and then pay for a name change to screw over the person on the origin realm that has that name? Lock all transactional ability on the destination realms for the same period character creation is locked - don’t ever doubt the lengths some will go to get a “cool” name

Nice! That’s better! Was thinking if you only want one or two good old delete and restore, especially now that we can restore characters every 24h compared to once a month. But forcing name changes on moved lowbie to rename is so much safer. And yeah, you can keep making characters on locked realms as long as you have existing character there, so make sure to leave behind an alt if you want low pop realm for rare hunting if we get WoD and onwards

They have the tech to just clone the server and do one last update before the shadowrealms go online.
If someone doesn’t transfer their clone stays inactive. If they do transfer it goes online.
They’re not doing it because we don’t matter.
FFS some of us don’t even exist to them at all.

Its not a force though? They are giving people the option to do so, if people don’t want to they wont, but if your server starts dying off it obviously means that people want to play on a mega server, them locking the servers means very little to a server that already has a healthy population, if the population starts dying off because of the mega server it shows that a good portion of people want it.
That only works as a test if the door is left open.
They’re locking all the “old” servers. Unless you’re already there you will never be able to go there.
If none are being born the only option for the population is to die. It’s frackin japan.
