Lowkey i dont know why this isnt a thing. Ppl should be able to just chat with others anywhere in the world. We know why tradechat is entertaining. Why do i gotta be in stormwind just to associate with the degenerates. Lemme have a “realm chat” so i can banter with the bois and do my lil worldquests and finally finish up this loremaster achievement. I dont like how hub-locked the socialness is. Feels like an unnecessary gatekeep lol
Edit:Some people in the responses dont realise you just just opt out lol they are getting hard pressed over this idea and it could easily not impact them in anyway

We could seriously use a non-troll trade chat, it’s weird we don’t have one for like, guild ads and stuff since the guild finder’s been busted forever, but guess community and organized fun aren’t the goal for most folks.

I turn tradechat on and off, but that’s mostly cause as a GM I think “hey maybe it’ll be useful for something for once!” turns it on and sees it’s still just gooners and trolls before turning it back off “Nope…”

i guess if you want to hear uneducated people ramble on and on and on about politics, racism, sexism… you can leave the channel for a month or six, and rejoin to see the same 4 people at war with each other.

but as expected, the tripe here dulled down a LOT after the switch to bnet.
there are of course the same old folks who create topics and spam-post, and love to loudly and constantly announce that they’ve put everyone on ignore, until all they see is the echo-chamber they desire

It used to be… still its up to us to make the best out of the time we have been given not wish for better days.
Realm forums are the closest we have to that, and that’s usually for recruitment.
Also, if brought back, it’d be made into a services channel. There’s no way it doesn’t become spam for services in the modern day.
We used to have global LFG chat in Vanilla, and it was chaos.
Basically global Trade Chat. And your mom was for sale.
