Healers carry. I’m not damage. Do your job and I’ll do mine.
Elitist much lol. Healers are called Healers for a reason.
If they afk that is one thing. But wanting them to DPS more is kinda laughable. This ain’t M+.
I have been leveling a holy paladin through WoD content since pre-patch and I can tell you that when I’m healing I don’t have the mana to help with attacks a lot of the time. With the water nerf and how heal scaling works, I have to conserve mana as much as possible to not go oom after a couple of pulls.
If I feel there isn’t enough damage happening to keep me entertained while healing, I tell the tank to pull more, faster. If I am on my healer I dont want to dps, so pull enough I dont get bored. I got you man, I got the best heals anywhere!
So pull, with feeling! Get used to all your tanky buttons! Experiment! Puuuuulllll!
But it’s not? I went in as a tank at level 11 in BC dungeons and took a good chunk of damage. Don’t even have CDs or mitigation yet. Seeing a healer go oom was wild to see. Things aren’t absolutes.
My healer was a H Paladin, I’m wondering if there are general mana issues with them now.
Not a bug, and I think Wild meant dps skills. Healing skills always cost mana. As a hpally, my dps skills now cost mana, after pre-patch. Was a rude awakening casually going through a low key, just messing around & dpsing a boss to find my mana at 30%. That never happened before.
I did a dungeon as a level 20 rsham and didn’t have my bars set up because I’d been levelling as ele. I spent half the dungeon writing mouseover macros, tossing out a heal every once in a while, the tank never came close to being in danger…
That’s weird, I just levelled 1-50 and never came close to going oom and I dps a lot as rsham
Congrats. Again, the situations aren’t absolutes and are generally never the same between group comps and players.
I’m not familiar enough with shammies to compare and haven’t done much in the way of leveling. Only been running low keys recently.
I’m probably more anti-capitalism than the vast majority of GD but I don’t think this is a good take on the OP. For me at least, I see this as fulfilling a fantasy of being useful to your friends. And being useful involves playing the game as it’s currently designed: damage comes in spikes, blasts, or pulsing waves, with lulls in between, and it’s up to you to utilize those lulls appropriately.
If anything I think trying to be a healer who JUST heals is reproducing the worst aspects of wage slavery: you clock in, do the bare minimum to not get kicked/fired (throw out enough healing that no one dies), and get out.
I’m of the mind that people should use the abilities given to them, and that includes DPS stuff for healers because the devs decided healers in this game should be able to do damage. That includes some damage-related cooldowns now like Avenging Crusader.
I won’t yell at a healer to do damage if they aren’t though.
I read this in goblin.
for me the dps players who lvl using their tank spec without even knowing the perks of tanking is the bigger problem. I am leveling a disc priest, normally doing quite more hps than the highest dps in the group and yet they kick me when the tank starts dying cause he doesnt know how to tank. It’s awful, and it made me decide i aint pugging healer in SL… there’s no way in hell i’ll put up with those kinds of clueless players and get all the blame for their crappiness… hell no.
When I heal, I make it a personal goal to try and out damage one of the DPS toons if possible lol.
But that’s also because of how comfortable I am with my healing class/spec and and able to focus thst much on damage output
I try to do the opposite to healers when tanking with a Death Knight.
I did not at any point say a healer should not DPS.
You want to take my logic head on then make a logical comment please, "your post is basically saying ‘insert my argument counter’ " is not it.
I’ll overheal and go oom just to put myself higher on the healing list than a DK
Big words from a level 10 classic alt…
Their job is to heal. Just be grateful they don’t let your butt die.
Really, where?
Because I am doing WotLK and it is mess. Quest gear gets worse instead of better, items (ie food, potions, scrolls) dropped from mobs are too high, as in 10 levels too high, for me to use and the earnings vs cost ratio is ridiculous with nerfed quest rewards.
Except heal. Which is their job.
I just learned how to heal in a group situation thanks to my son coaching me but I will never do it as part of my regular play because of people like you.
Congrats.
thats a learn to play issue
