Really, why are you all so obsessed with playerhousing?

Garrisons weren’t player housing. See: Wildstar and Old Republic for evergreen player housing that keeps people playing.

I doubt it would be legal to sell me a bridge in Arizona, as I would have the right to bar access to my property at will, and that would inhibit travel through Arizona. I could also use a bridge purchased from you for nefarious purposes, such as smuggling Mexican Pizzas to sell on the black market. Taco Bell underestimated America’s love for the Mexican Pizza and now they are the Furbies/PS5s of fast food.

What if I figured out how to open a quantum portal into a Rogue dimension full of demons and I placed it on my bridge, so demons just kept pouring out into Earth but the government couldn’t do anything about it because YOU sold the bridge to me and I posted a NO TRESPASSING sign 100 meters ahead of the barrier, ensuring that no force on Earth can disturb me?

I don’t think you’ve stopped to consider the consequences of your proposal.

Yeah and why are people so obsessed with the idea of changing what their gear looks like while we are at it? Who cares what your gear looks like right? I’m sure if they add transmogging to wow players will use it once and never touch it again, it wouldn’t become massively popular and create an entire new minigame of collecting appearances surely.

Which is the crux of the matter.

To do player housing right would require an insane amount of resources for the initial launch and even more for it’s upkeep if they don’t want it to be something abandoned after three months.

People point to Garrisons because it was a massive resource sink and wasn’t even a good representation of what PH could be.

But you’d be in murky water, legally speaking, if you sold me one.

To begin with, you’re supplying and enabling an Anarchist.

Secondly, I would probably open a Wizard’s Academy on that bridge and in order to cross, you would have to answer one riddle for each student standing in your way.

A judge would not look kindly upon you once the bill of sale (bearing your signature) came to light.

It would have to have a profession to go with it at the same time. Though many profession could make some things to go with PH, leather working, blacksmithing, tailoring, we would need a proper wood working profession and new harvesting profession.

I think those additions with added updates over time of course would be what keeps PH going long term.

Wildstar is unfortunately a double edged sword here.

It had a housing system that was fairly pleasant to play with for the customization/housing crowd… but it also fell to F2P due to a complete absence of playerbase, and then later shut down due to the same. Wouldn’t be hard for anyone who is anti-housing to use it against you in terms of either importance as a feature or population interest.

Could Blizzard really be capable of doing Player Housing right, or could player housing truly be the product of a lost advanced civilization, as Ancient Astronaut Theorists contend?

I want a place to put my stuff. Garrisons were not housing, they were mini-games that the devs, as usual, took too far.

It really would be difficult. Wildstar didn’t shut down because of housing. It shut down because of the hardcore atmosphere that didn’t appeal to casuals. The best part of Wildstar, basically anyone you talk to will tell you, was the housing. But a game of that sort can’t stay afloat with housing as its only positive.

Don’t bring those nut jobs into this, lol

They had like one or two good seasons then it was repeat repeat repeat.

Would love housing IF they allowed us to construct our own creations, not some horrid system of simply putting a premade building in a slot like garrisons were lol.
Allow us to build anything we can imagine like Rift online did…I would really enjoy creating.

pretty much designing our own personal zone from the ground up including weather, sky, wildlife , bgm, and every blade of grass to a castle, a condo…a mud hut. it could be endless

Have the new seasons really gone stale? Or… could Qûor be caught in a Mandela Effect Temporal Time loop? Ancient Astronaut Theorists point to Chromie Time as evidence that a disturbing new trend is underway in the very fabric of Space-Time.

But… and stay with me here, what if that post is a sign sent from ancient aliens? DEEP BASS STINGER SOUND

Player housing is very different from Garrisons. Garrisons were meant as a reward/interactive system to propel players into professions and other existing content, more like a crutch than something interesting.

Player housing like in FF14, or ESO allowed players to invite other players into their homes, design their homes how they wished with custom themes, perpetuated more professions (new systems) that interacted with existing professions. It added more to the community, as well as more to the game overall economically.

They are independent issues really, a command table/garrison doesn’t really add much value, it isolates players from others in the section of the map it is located inside of.

I love some of the ideas they brought up, it was interesting, eventually new seasons were just reruns with 10 seconds of new information.

Sorta like Dan Browns Da Vinci code, add a touch of truth with a bunch of fiction and you catch peoples imaginations. No doubt we lost some history we will probably never get back. In no way do I think Predator’s taught man to build pyramids so they can hunt Xenomorphs.

A place where people can express themselves could never work in a MMO! Just because Transmog is a huge success, and looking cool is the same. Does not mean your own personal space to design how you want to express yourself, would never work in a virtual world.

Thank you op for showing me the truth.
