Really, why are you all so obsessed with playerhousing?

Op,not really when you use it repeatedly and have far more stuff to do then waiting endless dule minutes and hours doing nothing like some people do for dungeons and raids ,besides it will be fun to decorate.

Garrisons taught me how much I love having my own space in an MMORPG.

I liked having my own racial city, but as those are disappearing, garrisons and class spaces like acherus hold take second place.

I just want one where I dont have to do the interior decorating, I am not good at that. Let people who love it do it (there are absolutely very talented people out there - I am not one of them) but give me a generic template base don race and or class

I hate player housing in any game. The loot would be house items instead of gear and you’d wonder why it’s so much harder to get gear in wow. Then there’s the FF issue of, can you even buy a house with how many people are in server? Will it cost gold monthly? Will you not be able to buy wow tokens because you have to worry about virtual house upkeep? Housing is and always will be a horrible idea.

I agree, 100% with this. If they add it in, I won’t participate. My thing is to login, play. Logout later. I don’t want to play SIMs or dollhouse simulator.

You can’t “know” that. If you are able to, let me know the lottery numbers.

Apples and oranges. They already said that the trade off for player housing would be an entire raid tier, IE months of content. They know if they came back with another garrison after that, they would be eaten alive over it. So yes, I “know” they wouldn’t make that mistake again.

Pre or post cata

OP is referencing how they did overall in the community as far mechanics/functionality.

Not entirely, as the game has different purposes for each player. People like myself, like it for the competition and skill base (that’s changed a lot over the decades) and couldn’t care less for a pixel house.

You’re not being concise but profound, which adds nothing.

I don’t understand this. Sounds like you’re trying to oversimplify things in order to deflate OP’s viewpoint. Just be honest, seriously.

Yes, via game progression, not housing/role playing.

Whether you care or not (which you do, hence you posted about it), is not the point. The point is, that most of this most likely won’t be used due to the low number of role players. Focus, comprehend…

You cherry picked their sentence and I can’t really tell how you’re responding since the source you picked is limited. So you want housing and dance studios for an RPG based on war and supremecy? You do realize that your opinion isn’t popular, but you don’t want any criticzm for it? People will complain about things that don’t work well with the game, popular ideas or not. And it speaks for itself, that if the majority of the communtiy of any game says “No thanks” to something, it’s usually a common reason(s).

Huh?

IDK man, I just want something tangible to do between quest chain patches that isn’t based on min/maxing ilvl and stats.

I’m not really finding RNG rare drops that compelling.

Arguments like this are so funny to me because they have bought into the narrative that someone else’s enjoyment is the reason why the game is bad for them. In reality, this anger should be directed at Blizzard for balancing their drop rates so incompetently that housing items are included in the pool of potential gear drops (assuming that this would actually be the case).

lol an anti-reality-ist and Washington Times journalist. I can’t take people like this seriously, and has nothing to do with player housing.

To my mind I’ve seen player housing in at least 3 other games (EQ2, SWTOR, 14) and they all have the same problem. Either I’m not going to get it just how I want, so why bother. Or I can get it looking pretty cool but only at great cost. And either way I’ll get bored of it the day after I realize I can’t make it any cooler.

It’s a fools errand.

Have you seen housing in FFXIV? It opens up so many possibilities for building communities and having fun with other players. In FFXIV, people use their houses to create night clubs, bath houses, taverns, aquariums, cafes, theaters, etc. There are even orgs like the Stellazzio Virtual Theatre on the Crystal data center that use the housing system to put on plays and performances. Not to mention the HGXIV community, which is a massive group of players who love housing and share/commission advanced builds.

In short, housing could add SO MUCH to WoW if it was done right. Not only would it give players more fun ways to interact with each other, but it could also add more depth to systems like professions by giving people additional items they could craft.

Because it’s cool.

The garrison was a very cool idea, but poorly optimized and with few possibilities for expansions.

Garrisons should have been 100 to 300 times bigger and with more visual change tools - and no player power progression or storyline.

there should be a player housing, an active class order hall and a guild hall, in all expansions they should be improvised and with new quests and stories.

The class order halls would have quests like legion, which might or might not involve the main story.

The guild order hall could have guild activities as well as unique raids depending on the guild garrison location and scheduled invasions from one guild to another with rewards.

The player’s “house” should have hundreds of possibilities for visuals and modifications.

and all of this could be tied to capturing resources around the world like New World.

There should be more than 100 player housing spots spread across all maps of azeroth/outlands/draenor

There should be more than 20 different spots for the guild housing (hall).

Each post having something unique in the region to encourage the player to change location from time to time and thus encourage the farm of items for housing.

in the end this would serve more to amuse the player and to unite a guild, which today only has pvp and pve activities, the game would have an extra modality with invasions between guilds, or the taking of specific places for your guild from time to time in times where there would be a guild flag and exclusive rewards for whoever managed to dominate that place that week, similar to ragnarok’s WoE (one of the best content for guilds of all time).

Depends on if you’re the side losing content that you like for something you don’t or vice versa. Everyone is impacted somehow, and considering the stated cost of a full raid tier, a lot of people would be losing what they like (and what wow does best).

Player housing in eso and i don’t touch it

cus, and this may shock you, some people may like things you dont

I hope player housing comes along for those that want it, but I already have a place I can truly call my own so I don’t identify with this need in particular
