Ya, I think it’s worked a bit but I also see people wanting elite sets back at 2k. If they did that, they would have to add something decent for the lower ratings too. Plenty of ways to go about this, I’m fine with either or. Just no ilvl behind rating trash, that garbage is archaic and terrible.
Didn’t seem to be an issue for people like me who stayed subbed for the PVP in WoD. It never stopped being fun for the entire time.
Again i think thr ppl who want the ilvl gap know they are a little greedy. Because they know they would be in that group. I mean, i get it, but cmon…
Like I said WoD gearing would be optimal, let everyone eventually get the best PvP gear. Sure, there are still going to be the Mythic End Boss weapons, and trinkets, but I would think you could achieve Glad at that point, if you had the skill. Only the Tourney and R1 junkies would put in the extra effort at that point.
As much as I look forward to a new expansion of WoW…I wish they would put class design FIRST, then raids, story, etc…then add new systems. As much as I loved Legion with the upgraded weapon…I’m sick to death of borrowed power systems that don’t carry over to the next expansion. Make Classes Great Again!
You’re not wrong. It’s really a travesty that they’re likely going to lock upgrading conquest gear behind rating. The “muh rpg” crowd is part of the reason why this game is absolutely terrible.
Everyone agrees PVP is at its best when we have our “PVP Uniform” we all throw on to do any sort of PVP, it was a rewarding task to complete by itself and served as a big step towards bigger PVP challenges.
Why don’t they just do it like the waaaaay olden days of… I think it was tbc.
The higher your rating, the more conquest you got for the week. I vaguely remember back then that <1400 gave like 1200 conquest for the week and 1800 gave like 1800 conquest.
More worried about that Rank 15 Conduit that is 100% required or gate behind something horrific like visons were.
With that said Arena gear should require rating and PvP was the best back when it did. This game is about attaining a gear advantage and that is why we play RPG games.
@Graendoll
This is what I was referencing when I said the forums are a better place when Abom is gone.
I mean they stepped in the right direction letting rival be where 480 azerite drops instead of duelist.
I would honestly be ok with 1800 being the top cut off and then after is just cosmetic.
So duelist is enchant, elite is tab, glad is mount, r1 special title.
That there I think would be fair, however I prefer late MoP and WoD with zero requirements.
Idk if they did the cost of upgrading just gets higher and higher if you aren’t pushing good rating for that increased conquest cap it will probably be after mythic raiders already have most of the mythic raid on farm on alts by then, when the lower rating players finally get mythic ilvl from pvp.
Edit: Just saw the second half of your post lol
post hoc ergo propter hoc
Don’t fall into that fallacy.
Totally agree, widening the gap between better players and everyone else is a bad idea that just increases the frustration that lower skilled players experience when playing pvping. We don’t want to lose people from the PvP pool so everyone should have access to the same gear eventually.
Considering how vers underperforms in PVE for nearly every class but is really good in PVP I dont really have an issue with PVP vers gear being easy to obtain, no idea why anyone would.
the people who aren’t good enough to get rating-gated gear can just do mythic+
that’s the way blizz wants it
Its an RPG, getting better at it to get bigger numbers on your screen is the whole point of it.
rpg the strength came in your level augmented by your gear.
If you want to spout about rpg though, then arenas at the very least should have templates as gladiatorial matches were evenly matched, with skill being the only deciding factor.
If we are going to be roleplaying.
It wasn’t an opinion though. Personally i don’t mind normalized gear, WoD style, but the game is 100% designed with the mindset i mentioned above. Devs said it multiple time. Its a take it or leave it situation.
Devs have never once said “it’s an rpg”
just stop
