Just wanted to share. Also, I play with DPS meters off. It helps.
Glad youâre enjoying it. Iâm enough of a massochist that Iâll probably continue to play it in TWW.
A lot of the issues are going to have nothing to do with the damage meters, however. Spending 3 hours waiting in queue to do a normal PuG raid or a +2 key will get grating very quickly. And itâs almost guaranteed to be an issue now that most of the community has heard of the bad state of the class incoming.
This is literally every dps except the 2 specs considered meta.
I love when people use this argument but donât actually play the class to see how bad it is in comparison.
I played Aug-voker, Fire mage, Outlaw rogue, and resto sham season 3 and I played Unholy DK on the side until S4 got boring as all hell. The amount of time I spent in queue for any class that isnât rogue is far less.
Rogue doesnât bring lust, battle rez, party utility, or a buff. Every other class does in some form, and thus has a reason to be brought over a rogue, leading to rogue being an obvious last, desperation pick.
Youâre a dps in a sea of dps, and you donât even play at a level where spec and class even matter. Reroll or move on, this isnât unique to rogue.
Oh they do. Unfortunately itâs just not the sort of utility that your average âmuh lust and and battle rez big deeps only plz!â dribbler forming groups appreciates having in the group because itâs not as obvious as the afore mentioned.
Rogue (regardless of spec) brings an AoE stealth, which can be useful in niche circumstances. Doesnât really help as a âduring combatâ utility though.
Tricks of the Trade? Maybe that can count as utility, I havenât tried to play around with it though to see if a rogue could use that in a fashion similar to redirect (putting aggro onto a tank thatâs out of line of sight and such).
Several non-lethal poisons could count as utility too. Atrophic Poison is effectively required in world-first raiding as they push new content.
Sap is a great CC for mobs it can be used on, particularly since the mob doesnât aggro while Sapped (unless linked to other mobs that get aggro).
So, there is some, itâs just not as blatant or flashy as others⌠kind of like the Resto Shaman talent which increases max health of healed targets by 5% for a bit.
Iâm glad I shelved this guy after S1 in DF. I had a blast leveling, but the m+ grind was obnoxious compared to the rest of the toons I play. Shroud is completely invalidated by mind soothe, warlock gate, and invisible pots. Being able to find the pots, and the linear nature of DFâs dungeons, didnât do it any favors either.
My damage was okay, but I eventually stopped inviting rogues altogether during affix weeks they couldnât help with.
I hope the class gets some PVE love in TWW. It needs some options in m+ especially. CC is too resource demanding in dungeons. Atrophic poison is a very good raid debuff to have though, until content is on farm, anyway.
I also enjoy playing my Combat / Outlaw Rogue, which I have been playing since the tail-end of Wrath, gone thru a bunch of race changes (Human / Worgen / Orc / Pandaran / Kul Tiran / Tauren); I gear up via LFG Heroic dungeons / LFR raids / world & weekly quests / etc., I am looking forward to seeing what Delves bring in regards to solo player gearingâŚ
Eh, not as bad as warriors. Warrior is bottom tier for getting pug invites to mythic plus.
It is good to know that you enjoy playing Rogue.
Indeed it can be rewarding. Just wish that the talent trees received a mini pass.
Excuse me bro, we bring a black powder bomb that depletes our energy so we can only do it a limited number of times. Tell me a team that doesnt wanna see that. Or the 1 m+ that we might be able to stealth everyone through until someone runs through a mob making it pointless to have done in the first place
I havenât done a Mythic + in maybe 4 years but back then I did it with my guild. Is that not common anymore? Is everything pugged?
Everything is pugged these days or guilded but higher m+ they want specific classes from what i would see in LFG. I hope for the pve bros its not as bad as it sounds, but shamans and hunters getting raid buffs and rogues still having nothing but slight damage tweaks, i feel they bring a lot more than we can. tricks could even turn into a raid-wide buff if they wanted it to since it works as a damage buff with the pvp talent for 1 person. Or something even new.
Most people complaining donât even play at a level where class and spec even matter. As always, people will whine on the internet about things that donât even impact them. They would rather blame the class/spec instead of accepting theyâre a dps spec queueing with literally hundreds of other dps players.
Perceptions shift downstream. If you have the cutting-edge players saying that an entire class should be avoided, hundreds more will pick up on it regardless of what âlevelâ it is.
A mechanically stealth-centric play-style is going to feel less fun in a high-end raid or Mythic+ environment. Only being able to take advantage of stealth mechanics whenever Vanish/Shadowdance is off cooldown just doesnât feel great.
Iâm only about level 45 (leveling slowly), but the game is largely still fun for me so long as Iâm primarily focusing on solo content where going back into stealth is a very common gameplay loop.
I think outlaw works the most out of stealth if you want to give that a playstyle so. I know themeatically we should be trying to go into stealth a lot but if blizzard is going to leave it broken and dont like the shadow dance thing, you can give that one a try if you havent.
Rogues did just get some arguably small buffs(on Beta). Good news, I just hope to have rogue competitive in TWW.
