We have to be fair here: NEETs will be through this content within one day, for the 9-7 people it will take usually longer.
The patch was filler content and I can’t be mad about that, its better than nothing. But seriously, play other games. Find new hobbies. It doesn’t hurt to step away for a bit.
- Shadowlands is fixed for alts;
- Felcycle is solved;
- Catch up ring to farm which can help people push heroic raid;
- New zone isn’t littered to the brim like Korthia;
- BFA meta achievement is up.
There are things to do.
This happened to me, too. I’m not sure exactly what’s going on but I have a new ring and there’s a bird mount I wouldn’t mind having!
Even the wage slaves are done with this content within 30mins.
“but wait guys, we gave you bikini transmogs and a flying surfboard for 10000 of this new currency”
But at least my hunter has a healing gem now, so I got that going for me.
OKAY so im not the only one… It made me think of Korthia…but Korthia felt more interesting to me…
I didn’t play DF, so idk if DF had any small zones like that… But for real though. Not only Korthia was bigger in size, it had really cool visuals, layout, nature and it was a multi-leveled/tiered zone…idk if it makes sense or not.
Korthia was a crazy nut filled grind if you were a hardcore raider/keyer and really needed that ring socket. But other than that, Korthia was pretty fun imho.
My only qualm with this patch is that vanilla High Warlord/Grand Marshal players still can’t unlock other classes classic pvp armor mogs. The weapons are all unlockable regardless of class but the armor is still restricted.
There’s a lot of really interesting lore to be had if you slow down and PAY ATTENTION. Grab the Dialogue UI addon, it will let you see item flavor text that you don’t normally see (without having to go out of your way to click on links in the chat frame).
There is a lot more fun to be had if you take your time and explore and not just GO GO GO.
Korthia was an annoying mess of overpowered enemies and annoying terrain that forced you into combat with hordes of annoying overpowered enemies with plenty of rares with one shot AoEs that you’d never see coming because 200 people were scrambling to fight the same thing which was required for any gear or gear progression there.
This new area is much more reasonable with the mob spawns, you aren’t FORCED to kill rares for progression, and the weekly quests are much more reasonable.
And the “area that lots of elites spawn” is a phase (the storm) AND they give you temporary power boosts to help you deal with them if nobody else is around.
I don’t remember Korthia being that bad… Maybe rose tinted memories idk.
But yeah, the whole grind part was just part of WoW back then.
Maybe if you were raid-geared or wearing M+ stuff, Korthia didn’t seem annoying, but go there in casual gear, like Heroic Dungeon gear, and hot dang some of those enemies were extremely annoying.
The stupid lizards with their ridiculous bleeds, the big blue monsters that drained life from you infinitely sometimes faster than you could DPS them (for the elites)… etc.
Yeah I was KSM by Wednesday of first reset (getting +15’s in both weeks) >.<
Fun fact - killed Sylvanas every single week+Vault and never got the dagger for my rogue.
I no-lifed shadowlands.
I did notice that once I got a few pieces from Korthia, the enemies started getting more manageable but trying to get started in there was a chore and a nightmare.
But no-lifing Shadowlands? I’m sorry you hated yourself that much back then… I hope you feel better these days!
Wow…a kindred spirit. Korthia was very fun and was packed full of content. I haven’t yet been to the new Siren island, but from what I’m hearing thus far, it seems to be easily forgotten.
It’s a heritage mount for the Goblins, so it’s valuable. The developers refuse to give them their heritage rocket, because it’s FOMO.
I preface this by saying I think TWW is the best expansion since Legion. Other than the QA problems which are very serious, 11.0 made me care about the game again, for the first time in many years.
11.0.5 and 11.0.7 are absolute junk. They just did not get the care and attention they needed. BRD could have been great if it had not been overtuned with crappy rewards - instead it’s a ghost town. I’m sure Siren’s Isle could have been good, somehow, Blizzard has plenty of talent.
Blizzard, if you’re listening, don’t waste time and resources like this again. If this is the slop that’s going to result, don’t ship these patches. Ship just one midseason patch, or even zero, and get new seasons out faster. Blizzard Quality used to be the gold standard that everyone in the industry aspired to. There is a simple solution to shipping two crappy patches which is to ship one good one instead.
I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from the patch, yes it’s a minor one. I am a bit surprised the loot was so lackluster as well though. I don’t need it, but I was expecting at least champion level gear.
Well, it’s not as good as a new zone in a tier patch, even one as bad as Korthia. But to be fair, this isn’t a tier patch, it’s a mid-tier patch.
The only real analogue is Forbidden Reach. But that’s not a fair comparison either, because Forbidden Reach was already designed as an opening launch zone for Dracthyr character creation, so you’d expect it to be bigger and more fleshed out in terms of size and structures, which they only had to repurpose for that later patch.
