Ok so its beyond obvious that people have used many exploits and bugs to get a huge advantage over other players so far in Classic. This isn’t news…but what I dont understand is why when you know people have abused bugs/exploits do you nerf them? When people were 10man farming dungeons you just nerfed it…but that puts a huge gap in the player base because those got to benefit from it. Now after TONS of people have had a free farm of exp from BRD torch runs you just nerf it putting yet another gap in the player base. Do you guys even think before you do this? Had you rolled back all the players who did this it would be ok but you know thats not possible so just leave it and allow others to benefit from it that is the only way to keep it FAIR. You are making it harder and longer for those players who arent using exploits/bugs to level and in a sense punishing them while allowing the ones who did use bugs/exploits to get away with no punishment. For the love of god use some common sense for once…
This is quite upsetting and just continues the stereotype of Blizzard being the fun police. I agree that it’s a little silly this farm existed in the first place but it has been part of the game, a part that I have counted on and looked forward to for a while now. This indeed puts a huge gap between the players who have gotten to use this farm and the players who will now need to spend days more to get from the mid 50’s to 60. As I’ve been progressing through the upper 40’s and now into the lower 50’s I’ve been taking more time for myself away from the game, enjoying hanging out with friends and just relaxing and this now feels like a slap in the face from Blizzard for doing so. I instead should have locked myself away in my room for another few days so I wouldn’t get left behind a large chunk of the player base that I wish to play with. Instead of enjoying grouping up with that player base and BSing with people while playing the game I guess I will go back to grinding mobs alone and having close to zero player interaction as I am a hunter and do not get invites to the “Spell cleave” or “Melee cleave” dungeon groups.
Thank you once again for reminding us that we think we want to have fun but we really don’t.
I leveled almost entirely from solo questing. Maybe you’re just slow?
Torch Runs got nerfed? Source?
I have definitely taken my time a bit with the leveling that’s for sure. That is partly why I was counting on the torch runs. I don’t want to sit down and only grind mobs or quest when I could spend a little time helping guildies get their WW axe or help people who are getting ganked. I just find that a bit more enjoyable.
Ok, so if you had money in a bank and someone figured out how to get to it and take, and then the cops said there is no way they will ever be able to catch who did it because they were super slick about it, would you then demand the bank do nothing to fix the problem because it wouldn’t be fair to those who hadn’t had a chance to rob you of your money yet?
Isn’t that quite a different scenario? I get what you’re saying but I don’t believe this is stealing from other players or stealing from Blizzard. It would seem Blizzard is just annoyed that people found a way to level quick and somewhat gimmicky. But is what they are doing bad or wrong? They’re not exploiting the game to bypass lockouts, they’re just leveling fast.
XP was removed from this in vanilla. The fact so many old methods of XP farm are back in the game continues to show incompetence in development.
I seriously wasn’t trying to compare bank robbery to video game gains, it was an analogy trying to point out you don’t leave something broken on the premise of not being able ensure everyone got a chance to take advantage of it while it was broken.
A fair point. I can understand why they patched the xp gains but what I don’t quite understand is why it was done so sneakily with what seems like zero documentation or announcement. Not that they owe us it but it would have been extremely appreciated. I had planned ahead of time to attend an MC run and now I may have to cancel plans so I can still make it. I would have at least liked somewhat of a heads up or maybe at least some sort of patch note so it doesn’t feel like Blizzard is trying to sneak one in on us. It definitely feels a little weird to me.
I don’t know what these runs are or how broken…
But, like always, the reference 1.12 client should be the decisive factor. If it works like this in it, Blizzard is making a mistake.
You’re seriously complaining that they are fixing exploits? Spoiler alert: we have at minimum 2 years before we have post 60 content. You got time. You dont need to be on the bleeding edge.
Get real dude, you say this as though if you were put in charge everything would’ve gone smoothly.
Why do you need to be the best? Are you having fun? Why do you need to compete with people using exploits?
If you have to cheat to win a video game then you are automatically a loser imo. You are a sad, pathetic sack of stupid. There is no competing with that, because you win by default.
“If there are people who are higher level than me doing some of the dungeons before me then I can’t have any fun in this game”
