Really bad FPS/Performance inside Raids

Also, heres the link for the live stream I did last night so you can see “in action”. Yes, I use some addons/auras for my interface and No, it doest matter if I play without them.

Your fps is literally fine up until you enter combat. Are you logging?

No, I’m not. As you can see, I’m getting like 80-110fps (everything set to Low) before the pull, but when the boss starts, oh boy… I don’t have any videos to share, but Ovinax was way, WAAAAY worst than Queen. Every tuesday after the reset, I get in a group to farm that flaming owl from Fyrakk. Its always a group of 20 and guess what? I can play with everything set to Ultra and have NO PROBLEMS!

I know you said you did a fresh install but I’m still gonna blame your ui.

I know its hard to believe HAHAHAHA Can you imagine how pissed I am because of this? I’m using the exact same addons from dragonflight. I didn’t clear anything when TWW came, only did a fresh install after I reinstalled everything, including windows 11.
I found 2 SS from way before here. I know it doesnt show anything, but its the best I could find :frowning:
This one is from Dragonflight Raid Finder I believe. I can’t prove it was set to Ultra, but thats how I always played. And as you can see, 74fps

This one is back from Shadowlands, doing the last raid on Heroic. Evern worst UI and again, 73fps with everything set to Ultra.

Did you ever perform the CVAR reset after these UI resets?

I didn’t do any CVAR reset because I don’t know 100% what that is and what it does. I just installed and clicked play lol

Sets every CVar to its default value. Basically resets anything that isn’t reset by a reinstall.

It’s part of the advanced step on Blizzard’s Reset UI article.

Ok, created a BKP for all my WTF/Interface files and did a CVAR reset to run more tests. This is what I got:

Starting with Raid Graphics Quality not working AT ALL or only partialy. My game was set to Ultra but the Raid Graphics was set to Low. I could see a few diff between textures, but thats all. You can see my FPS at the bottom right of the screen!

Now this test was everything set to Ultra and disabled the Raid Graphics option. Almost no diff between the previous tests.

Now this test is everything set to Low. I almost got 200fps idle looking at the boss, but as soon the fight started, it droped A LOT (but I know this is normal).

After all these tests, now I’m gonna run a few more with my interface addons to see if reseting the CVAR did anything good to them. I’ll come back later.

You just tell it not to index the hard drives. I have very close to 60 TB in my gaming computer in hard drives. That stores movies anime music

I already mentioned that, but Windows is also installed on an old/slow drive.

I just did that! Windows is installed on my SSD sata, I left it untouched but I unmarked this index option on all the other SSDs. So thats it? Dornogal was still the same but Idk if its just my impression, but open world was getting more FPS. Also, noticed that the game stutters a little when I open my bags. It doesnt matter if its my bag addon or without any addons. The game freezes a little and if I keep spamming to open the bags, I can go from 100fps to 8fps locked lol

Windows is on the slowest of your SSDs is what I was saying. And I mentioned the indexing 3 days ago, but I did say it was a bad idea. Why? Because I think if a drive is so slow that you don’t want to be able to search it or pull from it quickly, then it should be retired because it’s probably gonna fail sooner than later.

But do you REALLY THINK that my SSD sata is the main culprit here? Never had any problems with “speed” because its just a PC for regular stuff + gaming. I start my PC when I wake up and by the time I’m done making my breakfast, everything is ready to go. I have zero games there, only my windows and apps. Every and any installation is fast enough and WAY BETTER than a HD Sata. And again, WoW is the only game with this stupid and annoying problem (I’m not trying to be rude, I’m just tired of testing innumerous things every day and nothing xD) and I’m not gonna giving up until I fix this.

Idk if you know, but ESO is heavily CPU dependent just like WoW and they have stuff way worst than WoW that can “kill your fps” but guess what? No problem. By default the game caps how many cores your CPU uses for the game, but you can just open the config file and change the number there and BAM, the game runs like a ferrari even for people with really bad CPU. When they implemented the multithreading option the game changed to even better performance! It was wonderful! As soon blizzard annouced they would implement this as well I was excited! Only for nothing because this option changes NOTHING ingame lol

Welcome to peer troubleshooting over the internet. We’re not looking at your hardware or sitting at your desk. We’re suggesting things to try — because we care about players and want to help them — based on the limited data that can be collected by you and analyzed by us.

I’m going to excuse myself from this thread for now. If I think of something else, I’ll chime back in. Northernlite may have more ideas, he’s good with hardware.

Thank you for your help and your time! And again, I never meant to be rude or anything, so I’m sorry if it sounded like that and please don’t worry about it. I’m just frustrated because raiding is the only thing I truly enjoy and this expansion has been a nightmare for this :frowning:
I get annoyed if I can’t fix what its broken, even if its something beyond me. But I’ll wait here if something new comes up!

I read most of the posts and while i understand it’s part and process of trying to figure out the problem, the fact that OP has to do so many thing just to get his FPS to playable state, is telling.

In the 1st place, even with add ons, there should not be such a performance hit in the 1st place. Add ons have been used since like Classic and rarely do they tank fps on a consistent basis.

This is also an issue many players have observed since at least since SL. Yes i understand it’s a CPU bound and it’s an old engine. Yes i understand add ons are also evolving and taking/using alot more data then before. Yes i know that when it comes to IT, sometimes the problem is not as ez as 1-23.

Point is, if the engine cannot keep up, then more ppl will eventually spot this problem or suffer it themselves then u have players who’s gonna leave becuz what’s the point of paying for a service that cannot be kept at a basic consistent expectation?

Imo Blizz do have to really spend time money and effort into ensuring the engine/game is keeping with more modern systems.

I really have to add that WoW has been having performance issues ever since Dragonflight pre-patch. I sell pre/custom build PCs for a living and every single one that gets tested in WoW have stutters.

You can go to the most remote area, turn down all graphics settings, and when you open the bags/achievement tab/other windows, there will be a stutter. Other players nearby, or someone joining/leaving a group? Stutter. Undermine is nothing but a stutter fest even on a 9800X3D.
