I understand that classic era has been out for years and a lot of people are geared. Do you think a fresh 60 in greens could realistically stomach the grind? Or are there any barriers to progress?
Since it’s still an AV meta it’s possible. Although with SoD who knows how many weeks the AVs will go on for. It’s possible to do in the other BGs too although you’ll die quickly and a lot so it depends if you can “stomach” that.
I took this current druid I’ve been posting on (it’s actually my third with this name and server) to see how the grind was with the honor changes and got it to R12, where I could have gone to R14 but didn’t feel like it. I started with pretty much all quest greens because there is nothing on the AH and there are zero groups on the server or people to group with. So getting anything else wasn’t going to happen.
So my answer is yes - as of right now.
Yes. If you have 50+ hours per week to farm honor.
If you start to pvp while leveling you will be able to, or very close, to buying the pvp blues when you hit 60. (by pvp while leveling I mean try to gank most the enemies you see)
If you do some dungeons / easy raids (zg / aq20) you can also supplement that with nice side items.
Within a few weeks you can get a fresh toon to be strong enough to compete with, and sometimes defeat, full bis t3 / rank 14 geared people - if you out skill them.

Even if you have a fresh 60 with zero honor, it will only be 3 or 4 weeks I think until you can get your full blue set and be competitive. Just stack as much stamina as you can find and you’ll be okay, although somewhat weak offensively for a bit.
The blue pvp gear in era is about as strong as tier 1 and usually has better stats for pvp.
Gear doesn’t matter. Full epics or completely naked it’s going to be afk AV either way. Whether you can do the grind is up to you, it’s a lot of hours that’s for sure. Blue set isn’t too nuts, start with that and see how you feel before pushing to 14.
