I main paladin for a long long time but ret and holy is so trash in DF that i will, for first time, change to this mage that is my “main alt” if i can put this way.
How is mage doing? PvE… in pvp i like it but i dont play as much…
Im not looking for a OP class, just a fun and good class to play, i have some experience in mage cause i play some low m+ stones but i dont read much about how is performing in DF.
p.s. hope frost and fire still good cause i never liked play arcano lol
I wouldn’t worry about that.

I think if you’re chasing those numbers and only numbers, then you’re probably going to be in for a bad time regardless of class/spec. When a pure dps class gets gutted and there are no other options, you’re out of luck playing at high level end-game. FOTM chasers are always going to have a rough time as you’ll need to keep 2-3 classes up to par to account for big changes between patches/tiers.
As for “fun” that’s entirely up to you. I’m not the best person to advise on that, as I have disliked the playstyle of Mage for both BFA and SL to the point of quitting shortly after CN. To me it doesn’t look like enough playstyle changes are happening in DF to make it worth coming back. That said, if you enjoy doing the content with the current Frost or Fire playstyles then you’ll probably enjoy it in DF. Have a run around in current M+ and raids and see if it’s something you want to pursue.

Pretty much this.
Mage has progressively less fun to play since Legion but Shadowlands really made the class unenjoyable with Kyrian Arcane, Necro Frost, and Sun Kings Blessing Fire.

Play it. If you like it main it. Who cares if its meta, OP, trash or anything else. It is your money have fun. If you like paladin who cares if its trash.
Unless someone else is willing to pay your sub just do what makes you happy.
