This spell is good looking and has a lot of potential, but is rarely played in any content…
Since the blue post is trying to buff this spell in 10.15, we can tell that the devs are still trying to make the build usable.
The real problem of emerald blossom build is not the numbers…it’s that the spell is completely not reliable. Players have no way to control where exactly the blossom lands most of the time.
In most situations where melee and ranged are not completely stacked together, for example, Naraxas in NL, it is just impossible to heal melee+ranged at the same time, just because the blossom forms from a radius under the [Target’s] feet.
Even though the spell is designed to heal 5 targets, most of the time you can’t.
If you accidentally choose someone that’s not standing in the very center, you are guaranteed to miss a player or two. If you use the spell and only hit two or three targets, the value is lost tremendously, and you get a really setback feeling. Under high healing pressure content, who is going to be staring at the actual player’s model all the time? Players are only going to look at the raid frames tbh.
There is one way tho, to place yourself between the melee and ranged players, and use the spell on yourself. This way you can make sure the blossom land wherever you want. But all your dream breaths are either gonna miss the ranged players or the melee players cuz you are standing in the middle lol…
Please consider making the spell hit the target cursor’s location, like Holy Word: Sanctify. This will solve the biggest problem. The spell should feel rewarding to use, not punishing.
Ty for reading!
Personally Preservation doesn’t need it, scrap it but it’s power back into Temporal Anomaly, perhaps bring it shield slightly higher.
Preservation plays great now, we don’t need another spell to throw in. Like you’ve mentioned its unreliable, no other healer has a spell that has a travel time, proc time and expensive to use. That’s the issue it has way to many variables to actually get the heal off.
Honestly even if they buffed it to high heaven in terms of raw output it will always feel bad to use and so punishing if players move out of it.
It’s designed horrible for modern day WoW.

The problem with emerald blossom is that it can miss. People can just run out of it and it won’t heal anything. For a spell that costs as much mana and essence as it does that’s not acceptable.
My only real solution to somewhat fix it is to make it efflorescence 2.0, but obviously that’s not perfect either.
They would have to completely redesign how the spell works entirely. Idk maybe make it work like an aoe heal that will heal 5 people that are in range of you. As it is right now it just won’t work.

They could make it so instead of a ground effect, it becomes a buff on the person you cast it on. Same delay and mechanics (i.e. can still send out seeds when it activates), just would move with the person instead of being stationary, and do the same range of aoe heal as it currently does.
It really doesn’t make sense for a heal to be completely invalidated if someone has to move a second after it’s cast. Efflo can just be recast, and even rsham’s Healing Rain at least gets a tick off (and the initial burst heal if that talent is taken). EB just becomes a complete waste of a GCD, and that’s really not okay.
They should just lower the cost of Essenses to 2 and it’d be fine

But see, it goes a lot deeper than just reducing the costs. It could be free and I still wouldn’t use it.
Let’s say you’re healing a raid of 20 people. 5 of those people need healing and you decide to use Emerald Blossom to try and heal them, but you fail to notice the person you used it on is a ranged player that’s off by themselves. You just spent a chunk of mana and essence to heal 1 person when you could have just used Temporal Anomaly to shield 15+ people and throw 5 echoes and then proceed to press any other healing button to accomplish what Emerald Blossom fails to do.
It’s just an extremely inefficient button to press in most situations and Blizzard keeps trying to shoehorn people into this play style that focuses on using it when it just simply sucks to press that button at all.

Yea so All that…6 Global verses one. Not the Greatest Comparison. Recently I kinda stepped into Pinch hitter Healer role…So I Do Heal a lot. Don’t Get me wrong I dont use Blossom. Even in situations right now where its Strong, I still Prefer Bloom(But thats me). It does have some usefulness on a couple fights this Tier where you stack a lot. Also my Raid Frames show class Colors, and in Guild Raids so Ranged verses Melee is simple.
It has some use but its awkward to drop because it interupts echo combos and its essence cost is prohibitive making it hard to actually have it up consistently for its ideal usage which is cast before a damage event will happen and pop as soon as the damage event occurs.
using temporal anomaly to echo 5 people is 1 global my guy
But what he/she said was use Temporal Anomaly to Shield 15+ AND throw 5 echos…to accomplish…etc etc…which i read as cast Echo 5 times at the very least.
Similar to the Current 20sec Ramp with Bloom where you Toss out Temporal, and as many echos and then hit Bloom.
Yes, because pressing temporal anomaly both shields 15+ people and puts 5 echos out. They’re saying hey, use this one ability to do these two things.
I suppose…maybe if they said “tiny echo” might have been a bit more clearer.
They could just make the healing of Emerald Blossom behave like the Fluttering Seedling talent that comes out of it.
Sort of like a stronger non-spammable Prayer of Healing.
I would kill for a ground targetable Blossom as a talent option somewhere in the tree. I don’t even use the spell much any more, but ground targets are so much more comfortable for me.
It feels like the intention of the spell is to be used with mouseovers in actual space. Like mousing over someone’s character model (or health bar above them) instead of their health bars in raid frames. And for whatever reason, I can’t do that. I can place circles surrounding a group of people just fine, but I can’t really click on people.

I personally only spend Essence Burst on Emerald Blossom. I also prefer to spec into Ancient Flame, and together with Leaping Flame/Call of Ysera, that is pretty nice ST/AoE healing combo that can be spammed back to back especially with 4P proc. That is in M+.
In a raid it works well when there is a stack moment, when it isn’t…the thread applies.
I would say its far from useless spell, its situational, and talent build dependent, but if it didn’t exist, Preservation Arsenal would be at loss.
emerald blossom just doesn’t feel good to press outside of a 5 stack of ouroboros
Emerald blossom is bad because people can kove out of it, and it has a target cap. The biggest issue though is that it conpetes with resources with echo which is better almost 100% of the time. I think it would be better of emeral blossom didnt exist and that orouboros made it so that echos werent consumed based off of how many stacks of orouboros you had. Had 5 stacks before your sprlirit blossomed? 5 echos are reapplied insta after the consumption.

Reducing the delay will def solve some of the ‘people running out’ problem.
But if you accidentally target someone that’s standing on the side… that’s still the first problem you face. People might not run out of the spell if they see it, but 99% of them will def not spare the effort to move inside like efflo.
I tried targeting the model with mouseover macro but most of the time it will not work, just how small the models are and people are constantly moving around. Most players play dwarfs in m+ lol… would be a lot easier if everyone’s tauren. In all means it’s simply not possible and would be considered a terrible design for modern WoW.
Please consider giving a talent option to throw the spell on the ground, maybe replacing the current bountiful bloom and make 5 targets baseline.
6 globals? It’s 2. TA then press something like verdant embrace
That’s how I meant it anyway. Since TA spreads echo to 5 people
Why have it a ground spell? That still brings the issue of movement and mechanics which is now more prevalent in modern day wow more then ever.
Honestly if they intend to fix the spell they need to have Emerald Blossom attach to the Target, this way at least helps alleviate a lot of the issues currently. Then when it procs the heal hits targets around the target, the Talent Field of Dreams then can create another Emerald Blossom through Fluttering Seedlings but attached to a new target if the 30% procs.
Having it ground targeted I think steps to closely to Efflorescence by Resto Druids, this way it’s unique enough to stand out and as a Preservation skill.
But that’s only half the problem, the cost and effectiveness of Emerald Blossom is to High, while the heal itself isn’t substantial unless with Ouroboros and let’s be honest, how many times have we ever got it to reach 5 stacks.
Personally like I’ve mentioned previously, Preservation plays and feels great without Emerald Blossom, and I’d rather see it’s power and Talents put else where. Double down on what works.
