Hello! I’ve noticed a large number of what appear to be real players botting argent dawn rep. It appears to mainly be rogues for whatever reason. Not really complaining I just report them and move on more curious as to why? I’ve looked at the argent dawn rep rewards and none of them seem especially good for a rogue. Also the rogue bots never pickpocket the mob but always go stealth which I found strange.
TLDR: what are the real rogue players botting argent dawn rep for?
everyone needs argent dawn rep
to get into naxx for one thing

Ive noticed so many bots while leveling my alt in hillsbrad, it’s clear who is botting, they use the same script, the mages don’t even have coherent names they just type “adhajks” and start leveling.

Do bots have real names now too, not just Fghjaki? I encountered a ‘player’ who i swear must have been a bot but they had a regular name.
Rogues often attack from stealth, and often do not pickpocket when out farming stuff.

It does seem on Anniversary they have learned a bit and have less randomized names, some even are in a “guild” which they never used too but still very easy to spot a lot of them. For example hunters that are mining/herbing if you follow them you can see they patrol in a very “scripted” path if you go to certain zones you will see multiple dif hunters following the same path. I farmed (or used to on era etc, Anniversary it’s too painful) 2 specific zones for mining and I would consistently see 4-5 hunters all patrolling the exact same way, down to how they cross by a certain tree/object the same exact same way.

They definitely have normal names and are real people. I’ve grouped with some in SM / RFD range and they’re wearing random gear, I’m talking level 15 stuff when they’re 36. They roll need on anything that says Monkey or Eagle and even sometimes on BoP blues (Definitely BOE) blues and act like they didn’t know. It’s pretty wild and sometimes the group will give them the benefit of the doubt but you’ll see them complete a quest (yes, some seem to use Questie) and the language is foreign. They’ll quite literally do the same ‘rotation’ over and over like a Mage will be casting Blizzard on one mob, or right off the rip they Frost Nova, back-peddle and then go into their thing. It’s wild and perhaps they were instructed to do a very scripted set of spells…It’s Tinfoil hat time boys and girls.

Its gibberish or they will just take the first usable suggestion from the Random Name Generator.
Some people are also still terrible at a 20 year old game
Yep. The pickpocket doesn’t pay well.
its longer hang time by mob to be detected.
which can lose the backstab and such opener from stealth.
Only time my rogue doesn’t start out stealthed is thrown weapons leveling. throw the daggers time…fun times (not really).
It adds up over time. Just macro it to your stealth opener.

Individuals bot too, it’s not just large networks who do it.
Players will run a script and go to work. Still s cheating, still bannable.

I’ve always found this very strange. Like why wouldn’t you script the bot to just press the random name name button?
because blizzard isn’t banning obvious bots so there isn’t a reason honestly.
In terms of pure efficiency, across a 12,000 bot operation, having the script press the random name button is more efficient than typing a random jibberish name on character creation.
The random jibberish name is what leads me to believe they’re making characters manually, which makes me wonder if naming the character is the major hang up.
Although now that I think of it, some localized clients don’t have the random name button, and maybe that’s the issue.
