Amen to all of that post!
Iâve played multiple games with player housing, including FF14, ESO, Wildstar. And in none of those did I ever observe anyone feeling disconnected from the social experience of the game or anything like that. If you engage with that part of the game, its because you enjoy that sort of casual content. Do you think people who raid at high level or do M+ will give up that sort of content to decorate a house?
No, they spent a lot of time collecting it - by running old raids and dungeons, making it, finding it; in fact, by engaging in the gameâs content.
Ah, so, for garrisons you could craft beds and desks and tapestries and carpets? You could find furnishings for your garrison in raids and dungeons or off mobs out in the world? When someone quotes garrisons as a reason to not like PH they have already lost the point - because as anyone who knows PH will tell you, garrisons have nothing in common with player housing.
Sounds like phasing hell
That was Garrisons.
Please, think for yourself here.
What would you want to see thatâs your vision of what Garrisons SHOULD have been?
As to the above, why?
I realize most consider player housing a waste of time due to Garrisons and the utter lack of real customizations available for them. Then again, itâs not like Blizzard gives us players enough ways to customize our toons!
I do not think Player Housing is going to improve the situation WoW is facing at the moment.
Seems like a waste of time and effort to me. There are more important things to be worked on and balanced. Housing is just FluffâŚNo Substance~
You havenât seen my other threads.
As far as real work, actual balance between all races, classes, specâs, and across all item levels and gear ratings would help more, yes.
Above all however, I personally think that a single metastory from Vanilla to endgame would be the single largest way to retain any new players coming along, and might largely fix the losses currently going on in game over time.
To the above, I will add that the story should drive gameplay, and said gameplay should then further drive the story.
So, donât get me wrong. Player Housing is an afterthought to what should be worked on over time. However, if WoW ever does get to a meaningful place, PH would help, not hinder.
Just give me a tent I will be happy~
WoW and you both deserve better than just a tent.
The issue is convincing Blizzard of that fact.
I just want a nice place in either Kul Tiras or Pandaria and I can get a nice onsen with a library and such.
ANYTHING would be nice at this point, heck, even something as basic as SWTORâs housing would be great.
Really?
Logs in to FF14
Goes to Limsa Lominsa
Sees an ocean of people in the city.
Sees a lot of people going to the dungeons and raids
Sees people actually still questing and leveling their classes
âWow what a freakinâ ghost town, housing killed this game.â
Seriously Housing is not on my WoW Bucket List. Iâd never be home anyways if Housing was available.
Wow.
SWTOR housing SUCKS until you actually get enough credits to buy enough stuff to make it worthwhile.
Still, WoW ainât got anything yet.
Okay.
What would you want instead?
Because thatâs basically what Iâm stuck with asking now.
Itâs like if youâre starving. Yes Arbyâs tastes like someone put a wet sock in a bun, but if Iâm starving I donât think Iâd care at that point.
Also for the record as Dedaru points out aboveâŚ
In FFXIV, housing possibly drives the entire ingame economy due to mats, items, drops, and other things that can be used to either be or create Housing content.

Thatâs the thing. Housing would make professions actually work together more so than they do now. People could make HUGE money on the AH with them too; you know how many roleplayers (like myself) spend on transmog?
I also know people in games with Player Housing and they arenât good at the AH, so instead they become interior decorators and make IMMENSE amounts of gold, like Scrooge McDuck levels of gold.
Also could reflect on Achievements; we gotta spend these points somewhere!
Hell, I would even do PVP if it means I get an Epic purple trophy to put in my Lorewalker Library house!
Blizzard has a WoW mental box.
Currently, said Blizzard is NOT good at thinking outside of said box yet.
If they were to become good at thinking outside their mental WoW box, both we and Blizzard could make gold BANK just from their cut of AH sales, let alone as you type the sheer MOUNTAINS of gold that PH and the Professions working to support and process PH items would deliver SO much in profitsâŚ
This thread is to ask Blizzard to see what its options are for player housing.
Doing it right as well as fixing the gameâs issues with story and balance would likely turn around falling subscriptions rather well. The issue is convincing Blizzard that this above work is in their best financial interests, too.
Equipment locker, one window ,table ,bed and library. If it possible to build my own lab Iâll search everywhere for the equipment.
If Blizzard wants to give FFXIV a run for its money, thereâd be lab equipment EVERYWHERE out there in game. Quests, Dungeons, Raids, Mythics, Mythic+, PVE, PVP, lore questsâŚ
EVERYWHERE!
Yeah oh yes!

Itâs what would keep me in game, if I have something I actually am PROUD of in game (like my transmog) then itâll keep me going, yes people wonât âsee it normallyâ but people donât see my PVP score posted over my head, nor my raiding skill, nor AOTC; they have to dig for it.
Even so people could do CONTESTS. Wildstar had a housing contest with a guild and it would be like transmog contests in WoW; even huge swaths of screenshots in the forums doing house tours.
I knew people who made public taverns, libraries, arenas, etc. for roleplaying and even just in general FUN stuff.
Housing would breathe life into WoW, it needs some autonomy to keep players in that isnât always dailies and weeklies; those get tired every time.
Housing? Everyoneâs house would be different even if the frame would be the same, much like how Transmog still uses the same âpiecesâ but people can come up with amazingly cool looking sets.
And I hope it doesnât come to this, would also give Blizzard a chance to print money on their Blizzard Store to buy furniture and such.
HOLIDAYS could be implemented from spoopy Hallowâs End decor to Winterâs Veil stuff. The posibilities are endless!
