Real money for guild membership

I honestly, and highly doubt, Blizzard would be encouraging, let alone, allowing the top guilds to lock people out of the guilds behind some sort of paywall, or guild required addons behind a paywall.

hacks@blizzard.com doesn’t sound right. This isn’t a hack.

I’ll just wait for an official reply to see where exactly this is to be reported so it doesn’t get sent to the wrong group.

You’re likely not going to get an official response because this is not something they’re going to acknowledge. At most, it’s against ToS and at the very least it’s an unsupported transaction. That’s not something they’re going to say Yay or Nay on because it may seem as if they’re supporting or not.

I googled how to report a guild and the support article I found said that if you can’t right click to report then send an email to hacks@blizzard.com. That will get it to the appropriate group to investigate.

That is for all cheats, exploits, hacks, third party software, use of external apps, and anything else that violates the anti cheat rules. Provide the information I suggested.

If the Blues DO reply and suggest something else to do, you can always add that on top of your email.

The only other option would be to email the same info to Legal.

Those are the only reporting options.

What is the money for? Ingame stuff? RL events? How much is it? 1 buck a month? $100 a week?

Then why are you worried about it?

I think this game is regally owning by Blizzard and any economic activity through this game will be having serious legal problem if the activity is out of blizzard permission.
this is commonsense…

I actually saw a post saying one of the RWF guilds was selling a addon, not sure if it was true or not

Goon Squad was doing that early as TBC if I recall

I’m pretty sure I know what community this is referring to, and I’ve always been curious about whether or not this was RMT. Unless you are a supporter of the community, you cannot join the in-game guild.

Assuming this is the same community, in DF certain heroic and mythic raids hosted in this community had “priority raid slots” going to supporters of the discord over non-paying members. Which always left me uncomfortable personally.

Though, I haven’t seen such “supporters only” raids in TWW yet. But that community very much is still asking for supporters, with ‘joining the in-game guild’ as one of the ‘benefits’.

This is sort of a grey area for a few people as it isn’t something they would have any knowledge about. I assume that it could be against the IGCoC or EULA, but I am not 100% certain.

If it is the community I think it is, they have three patreon tiers going from 5 usd to 20 usd per month.
They don’t specify, but they say “it keeps the community alive”.
Afaik, their mods don’t get paid, and they have maybe 3-4 discord bots, a domain and a basic website made with a template.
The owner runs 3-4 raids a week and used to run mythic raids once a week giving priority to subscribers.
There are other raid leaders who also don’t get paid.

If requiring to pay for a Patreon tier in order to run a raid, that would be in breach of the policies. I think it is safe to assume that guilds requiring to pay money through any other 3rd party service would also then actually be in breach.

Nothing though can be done here on the forums, but there is a place where it can be reported. I’ll re-quote Mirasol’s post:

But realize, that is not what the poster said. They said “priority to subscribers”. That’s actually a much different scenario.

I would agree that, at best, the guild is skirting the line between good and bad. But let’s not read into something that hasn’t been said.

hacks@blizzard.com would be where to send the information, and let Blizzard decide.

As Melaesia said, it is not required, but prioritized; as per one of the signups, “priority for the first 5 minutes will be given to players who are supporters on the Discord. We will NOT be able to take everyone who signs up.”.

This was back in March tho, I haven’t seen this practice during the current season of TWW.

I’ve donated in game items and gold to guilds. In some cases, I’ve even donated money to help offset some of the cost for website hosting and stuff like that. But requiring a payment for member to join them sounds super shady and I would avoid it.
