Real - ID was a good idea at it's core

Real ID vastly rejected due to privacy concerns at it’s core was a good idea. It attached a level of accountability to people. Your actions would be able to create a reputation which is an important keystone in forming a community. I think the Real - ID base idea should be re-examined and brought back on the table but eliminate the Privacy Concerns by simply attaching it to a single username. Having multiple profiles as we do now invites trolls, and too much disconnect from reputation. Make all profiles shared onto a single name which is visable to everyone. Doesn’t have to be our battle.net tag, but something along that lines would be perfect.

I would support at least a battle tag name displayed all the time like how any other blizzard forums displays them

Overwatch forums for instance

We will still have our characters name displayed sure, but the battle tag must be displayed too

It’ll resolve alot of General Discussions issues, I hope blizzard does this next year at least

anyone disagrees with this means they have something to hide

Yea something like that is what we need. I think it would be good to have in-game as well. community lacks accountability so people think it’s okay to act rude because there is no consequences due to lack of reputation. Or just being able to name change your way out of a bad one. I’m not sure if people who disagree have something to hide, some people just fear being held accountable.

That hasn’t been true for 6 expansions.

I mean maybe but that’s dangerous thinking. It’s easier to have “fun posting time” over actual discussions. Then there’s the weird and toxic “MY OPINION IS CORRECT AND YOU’RE A forum safe series of insults IF YOU DISAGREEEEEEE” people, who I’d be fine with having all semi-contained.

What do you think it’s going to solve exactly? Someone would know the first part of your tag- you’re still essentially anonymous. At most it would cut down on the already rare self-liking on some posts. Let’s ignore for a moment that there’s already a heavily moderated (and abused) report system that actions accounts instead of characters.

Imagine how much easier it would be to block these people if they was all bound to a single name instead of multiple profiles. Even they would be held accountable by the community.

Nothing creates social trust more than policies made with intent of exposing.

I vote for a single username per account. And the ability to download your own avatar and signature.

Like I have done on every other message board I have been on.

One battletag.

removes the shenanigans you can do on the forums alt flagging, upvoting with alts, trying to argue with people using different alts.

Possibly might cut down on some trolling since they can’t hide on a classic character or low level toon.

This forum software is garbage. It seems discourse has no intention of fixing anything.

So OP, you’re a troll. You often post troll threads that fall between basic trolling and pure flamebaiting. How would these restrictions affect you? Do you even have a legitimate character you currently play at any level? Is this an account that is paid for for the purpose of plausible deniability by you or someone else?

We’ve been seeing a lot of forum threads lately suggesting harsh restrictions on who would be permitted to post. Is this one of those threads, part of a trial balloon campaign to restrict forum “discussion” to people who have never met a game feature they didn’t like?

Nice accusation, but I always post on this character when I post. I happen to like the name, and just because what I post isn’t always the most popular opinion doesn’t mean it’s a troll. You people really need to learn what trolling is before you throw the term around.

Hint - It’s not someone that has a different opinion then your own.

Why do you want it? To Doxx? “Hey your employee called me a whale!! >:(“ creeper imo.

Also it doesn’t stop me/others on FB fighting over video games and calling each other dumb. So Idk what you’re expecting. Even on twitter people have the dumbest take but show their full name and Linkden.

So you’re saying that under any circumstances you will continue to post on a troll character.

Not at all, if you read the full post I stated the base idea is good. The real life name part -the privacy issue- not so good. Having a single profile name wouldn’t make it so anyone could doxx a person. Unless of course they went around and told people who they was.

Confirmed. Deny, deny, deny. You are only trying to help Blizzard to implement harsh restrictions on who may post and what may be posted for the good of the “community”…of flamebait posters?

If your only purpose here is to throw baseless accusations at me, you are exactly why I made this thread. It needs to be easier to put people like yourself on ignore, and keep you there.
