Reading the forums, you’d think this expansion was a disaster. Yes, there is an occasional “This is a great expansion!” post, but they are drowned out.
If an objective, sound minded, reasonable person who has not yet upgraded reads these forums, do you think they would give the expansion a shot?
Just like anywhere else people are motivated to complain than to praise.
If you’re unhappy you’re going to look for solutions to fix it or at least complain or vent. If things are going well you’ll still be in the game playing… makes sense to me
The sole function of the forums is to make people not want to play.
OP, I love the expansion. 
Seems to me it’s more important to provide honest commentary, rather than be involved in some sort of media blitz.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they didnt. Blizz has been purposefully choosing the most irritating aspects of different forms of content, and mashing it together to make the shadowlands content. WQs, its like they chose the least done, most hated WQs of BFA, and made every single SL WQ like them.
Countless fun aspects or cool ideas are nerfed, removed, or straight up changed to suck the fun out of.
It literally seems like the devs are angry at players for not liking non-fun content, and doubling down on it to punish us. Every day I find another thing in shadowlands that just makes me want to play it a little less.
I love WoW, I really want to play it, but they keep piling on tedious crap that people just don’t like in the slightest.
My for tip would be don’t read these forums. We’ve got as many doomsayers as people saying it’s great.
My actual advice, look into the systems that are in place right now, look at the covenants, look at the story and see if it gets your blood pumping.
If you like what you see, pick a class and have at it.
One persons tedious is another persons fun. I thought various aspects is this game would turn out bad but low and behold they hit their target. Content includes all things from challenging to easy mode world quests-just like it should.
The MAW for example can give me a sense of wanting to escape due to the high density of mobs. I think that was their goal here: make you feel unwelcome. Consider it well done.
Torghast is very much like the MAW but friendlier to the solo experience and allows you to break your spec for fun. I love that if I build all AoE and fail on the last boss I’m punished. Good- we should strive to get better and not be rewarded for failure. If our children only all grew up this way there would be less of a “me me me, I want I want I want” attitude in all aspects of life.
It’s all whinging and more for attention than substantive. Shadowlands is an S-Tier expansion for me so far. We’ll have to see how it evolves, wether they add more dungeons in season 2, especially.

used to be that the squeaky wheel gets the grease but nowadays it’s whine and threaten till the other side caves
only remedy i can think of is to just go and experience it firsthand.
Finish leveling and go to the maw and go do some wq. Then tell us what you think.
The thing about the forums is - The people that usually access it are either bored, unhappy or both with the expansion, since people that are enjoying it are most like playing the game instead of complaining about it.
tons of issues that can be easily solved and people spew about it

towers- people can just group up refuse to go at it solo fail then throw a tantrum over it
people leaving dungeons- well blablalbahblahb something something its okay cus x
Ppl who enjoy the game don’t come to the forums to say that, they are in game playing it .
The content SL present is great for Masochists. Numerous gated mechanics? Check! The Maw? Check! Dozens of different systems and currencies with subpar to sometimes no explanation to how they work? Check! Dull to frustrating out of the way daili—I mean, World Quests? Check!
What’s not to love about this amazing game?
If they were reading the forums to determine if wow was worth a shot then they aren’t objective, sound minded or reasonable 
Eh, it’s not the worst expansion, but after leveling to 60 and getting my covenant set up, I find I’m spending more time on alts in prior expansions for a reason.
It’s certainly not the best expansion either. The reason there’s a lot of talk about the expansion being bad is… it’s not a great expansion, following on the heels of another not great expansion.
Dunno. Although I’m more inclined to believe a new player would simply come to these forums, see people fighting over nonsense, and hopefully come to the conclusion that they should go read other sources and try to figure something out.
I’d also hope someone like that would know that the forums are a source of complaining more than anything else because the people who are actually enjoying themselves in game are too busy playing and not too busy posting. Hell, I’m having a blast.
The only reason I’m here is because I like to peruse the forums when I can’t sleep or when I’m doing something not in the game.
Really? I personally have thought this expansion is awesome so far, although it has only been out for a week. I still think it’s great though.
