Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I’m trying to find a healer for next season and I find myself preferring reactive healing vs proactive. I don’t always know the fights when I go into a dungeon so don’t wanna be held back by that in a sense.
My biggest focus is on M+. The only healer I have yet to play as is Resto Shaman. I don’t know I see bars go down and I wanna make them go up lol Do I have other options other than a Holy Priest?
Thanks!
Not even joking - Resto Shaman.

If you are not learning fights, planning cooldowns, and sending your defensives well, it will be harder for you no matter what healer you are on
Holy priest
Resto shamans
Holy paladin
Are all pretty reactive.

It’s resto shaman for sure
Tons of buttons for post crap hitting the fan
Also holy priest is literally just wack a mole on healthbars if you like that simple style

Resto Shaman just going off the Mastery seems to be more weighted to being Reactive than Proactive (they heal more when target HP is low), but besides them and Holy Priest, maybe Mistweaver? Although they’re less “reactive” and more just like, they passively heal by doing a DPS rotation but then can ramp up heals when needed, so it kind of is? But I’m not very good at Mistweaver either so I could be wrong
These would be my top 3.
Tbh I would go rshaman. Its a mix of retro and proactive healing.

Holy Priest and Resto Shaman, both are mostly reactive healers.
Holy Priest suffers from “just do disc its way better” and Resto suffers from normally having poor mana management until you get 35%+ crit and get used to knowing which of their 15ish buttons to use.
Also Resto Shaman is not purely reactive, it does have a couple of maintenance spells that you should have out before bust dmg starts.
Mainly, Not Druid.
Other better more aware healers have already provided the best options.
I’m just here to make sure you don’t make the worst mistake you can make.
As an added bonus, Blizzard wisely decided to remove Mana Tide Totem as its own button and in its place, they put in a talent choice to tie Mana Tide Totem in with one of your big healing CDs - Healing Tide Totem.

i’ll echo resto shaman.
you have a HoT and a shield as your prep. you drop your healing totem.
you do all of that while running into the fight. when the mobs are gathered, you have an aoe spell that does both damage and healing.
then you play the fill-the-health-bar game. you have short/quick heals, longer cast big bomb heals, chain heals for your party.
plus, you bring blood lust, specialty totems, you are super mobile, you have the shortest CD interrupt in the game.
Disc is proactive but at lower key levels you can just radiance to get attone on everyone and do your dps rotation
And afaik Resto doesn’t even spend the point on the mana regen on healing tide. too many other things they can’t afford to skip for it.
