So, I’m new to the pvp scene and I feel the learning curve getting into pvp is so overwhelming. With that being said, how does one go about reaching Gladiator status and get the mounts and titles n such?
Is it a fool hearted endeavor? The rewards are pretty sick imo.
Whats the best way to get into rated games without getting crushed instantly? lol
Reach gladiator isn’t impossible, but it isn’t easy either. You essentially will be fighting people who have been playing this game for 15+ years. That’s not to say that you can’t improve and get better, but it will be an uphill battle.
As Detectorz was saying, try to learn from from streamers (or youtube videos) and work from the ground up. There may be a lot of information to take in but eventually a lot of it will become muscle memory/second nature.
If you’re looking to improve, the only real way is to play > learn from your mistakes > look to guidance from how others play and implement that into your gameplay. Don’t be afraid to copy higher rated plays specs/gear set ups until you have a better understanding of the spec yourself.
Also Boomys are fine now but, play a class/spec you enjoy. If you find a spec you enjoy you won’t mind if the spec is weak. Spec balance tends to fluctuate wildly depending on what Blizzard is feeling.
Best of luck friend. Also always try to keep a positive attitude. I’m not perfect in this regard myself, but if you’re able to take all the L’s with grace and a good nature you’ll find the game way more fun.
Not really, and yes. Unless you’re some sort of prodigy or have friends to play with who are good, I wouldn’t expect a gladiator title anytime in the near future just starting out. Biggest barrier after you learn the basics is going to be the gatekeeping aspect of finding people to play with. Just start spamming ranked solo shuffle, and watch some guides, and streams. Flapz and Nasjarin (spelling?) are two really good boomies, maybe one of them will see this post eventually to give you some actual spec advice.
according to this forum all you need to do is play one of the OP classes aka “free glad” then proceed to talk down to anyone ( to make you feel better) all the while know you were boosted
but if you really want to get glad, not impossible unless you have a lot of flaws in your game is pretty simple,
make friends and play that team consistently
record your games (watch them later to see spots of improvement)
after each match, ask yourself how you could improve ( work on that one thing) untill you can do it in your sleep. rinse repeat.
ask your questions to your favorite player who is technically sound, usually they will answer you, most are pretty chill
*learn your opponents win condition , so you know when to push or not
if you played sports at a decent level use that as your base on how to improve and win
i dont want to put down your goals but you need to set more realistic expectations. if youve never arena’d before, do not expect to hit gladiator this expansion.
you should definitely try arena out and if you like it keep pursuing it and you eventually will get there. but to just decide one day you want to hit gladiator will not happen, so don’t expect that.
learn your spec, the basic rotation, crowd control, what you counter/what counters you. and set a more achieveable goal of hitting 1400 or 1600 this season.
Get a few addons, specifically ones to watch DRs (diminishing returns) and enemy CDs, and watch streamers that play your class. Just don’t go overboard with the UI, there is such a thing as too much information (you don’t need to know that the enemy healer has been blinded in 6 different places).
You can also look up what builds and embellishments rank 1s are using. Just keep in mind there are often builds that are easier to play and more suited for the lower end, and more complex “thinking” builds that need a little finesse that are better suited for the higher end.
wow arena in 2023 is 60% game knowledge 30% ui 10% skill
learn what your spec does, what you need to do to win, what situations make you lose
then learn that for every other spec in the game
once you have that down throw your body at games and be okay with losing
view every game as a progression raid pull
eventually you’ll put enough ‘pulls’ into meta comps that you understand exactly what they’re going to do before they do it and you can then start working on your best ways to response and muscle memory
it’s very possible, not even uncommon to go from 0-gladiator in a season
just expect to lose ALOT in your first couple thousand games and be okay with that
addons bridge the knowledge gap SUPER hard
they aren’t great for the game as a whole but everyone is using them and you shouldn’t feel bad about utilizing them
Weakauras (type in mes on wago.io and DL that pack)
Master the fundamentals of pvp and your spec in 2v2. Try to get a 2s partner that can help mentor you. 2s is the best place to learn since the pace of the game is slower.
i cant even name a single example of this ever occurring any expansion or season after mop (its plausible a few rets did it last season after 10.0.7, but even then i’d be surprised).
OP hasn’t even earned “step into the arena” achievement. a player who strictly pve’s and has literally never stepped foot in a skirm or arena has a 0.0000001% chance of hitting gladiator in a season. unless theyre self-playing with r1’s or someone is playing on their account. no cap
The guy is confused and asking genuine questions because as usual you give edgy Gen Z responses that someone needs an urban dictionary to figure out. Just say “don’t pay someone to carry you to glad” like wtf.
Understand that you’re going to lose more than you win, initially. Players are a lot more dynamic than a scripted NPC that you can plan out its every action to the second, like pve.
Practice in 2s with a healer, so you can start to familiarize yourself with class spells and abilities that you will need to permanently remember. A lot of new players jump to 3s and get overwhelmed with everything going on.
