Reaching diminishing-return cutoffs for secondary stats... which Embelishments & trinkets, now?

With the significant gear upgrades from the past couple of weeks, my BM-hunter has suddenly reached a bunch of diminishing-returns cutoff values. For me, it’s always been three stats roughly equal in value (Mastery/Haste/Crit) with Versatility being garbage to be avoided. But now I am at, or surpassing, the recommended cutoff for DR on all three of those, making Versatility my new preferred stat.

That’s all well and good. I use Raidbots to sim my character and it’s starting to recommend gems/enchants with Versatility now.

However, all of the various websites recommend Embellishments and Trinkets as being “best” that depend heavily on adding or proccing one of those three secondary stats that I suddenly don’t need so much any more. I am having trouble figuring out how to account for this change. I can’t find a setting in Raidbots that rates Embellishments. And two of the best trinkets for me, Ominous Chromatic Essence and Whispering Incarnate Icon, not only grant those same stats experiencing diminishing return, but ALSO, have added benefit depending on how many of your fellow raid members coordinate and use those same trinkets to provide mutual buffs. I’m pretty sure Raidbots doesn’t take that into account either.

I’m wondering if I should just aim for more “direct damage” kinds of items for embellishments/trinkets without being able to sim it accurately (like Shadowflame embellishment instead of Blue Silken/Mastery). Or is this just way too much min/maxing and the difference will be minuscule?

Thoughts?

You’re to hung up on diminishing returns.

I certainly don’t understand the mechanics behind DR very well… is it a slow steady decline as you get more and more or is it a sudden drop off in value? If it’s the first, then all of this is certainly not important.

It’s a sudden drop when you reach break points but hitting the 1st one doesn’t really change much.

You could get a Shadowflame piece to help proc either of the effect rings from Vault if you intend to get either of them. There’s also an embellishment that increases the duration of your power potions by like 50% so if you really just want to avoid investing into stats hitting DR you can get that as well.

But you’re probably still better off getting whatever embellishments were good for you prior to hitting DR, maybe aiming for whichever one increases the stat you have that’s not quite as deep into the DR like your haste or something. They still give good stats, their effect is just slightly diminished.

I didn’t even think of that, dang.
Thanks.

This doesn’t have anything to do with deminishing returns but I wanted to let you know that hunters use the completely safe rockets on their weapon and that procs the rings  Happy gaming!
