From the start of Classic development we have heard that Classic and the current game will be separate and nothing from Classic will transfer over to the current game. Now Warcrafts Brazilian facebook page accidentally released that at some point reaching 60 in Classic could also unlock BFA and a free character boost. These games need to be separate and if people that resubed for Classic wanted to play BFA they would have resubed some time in the last year.
Nobody will reach 60 In Classic it’s too hard, too time consuming, Christmas games will be here soon.
I mean you could just… not use it? From what I’ve seen in this forum, nobody wants to play with people who might be enticed by retail anyway.
That promotion isn’t going to flood Classic with people.
Even if it did, they’d probably bounce out by level 20
Or best case, converts some fresh blood.
I see it as a win/win
If they do this it’s still free. If you don’t want to play BFA it’s still optional. People will complain about anything.
As a connoisseur and fan of both classic and retail, who cares? Apparently, the promotion is that they’re giving BFA for free if you reach 60, and BFA auto comes with a 110 boost.
It’s things going from Classic -> retail. Retail has had promotions and character boosts like this for years. Nothing new is entering Classic and there’s no unobtainable items or anything of that sort entering retail.
The problem starts as soon as it’s doing something on retail unlocks something on Classic, but Blizz is smart enough for that to never happen.
Why would this be a bad thing?
It would allow people to plwy botj games. Seems like a win-win.
It’s better than nothing. I don’t see any downside.
Wait, let me get this straight… Blizzard might be giving away BfA and a boosted 110 if a player grinds to 60 in Classic?
That would actually be a loss for them. I’m very surprised.
As long as they don’t allow rewards linking.
I knew they would turn classic into a microtransaction.
Now for 15 dollars players can grind in less than a month for a boost.
Depends on how long it take someone to hit 60.
Also, if it keeps people playing, I’m sure it’s worth it in the long run.
I’m not a big fan of linking things between the two games. Once they start this, it’s only a matter of time before it starts working in the opposite direction. And then I’m gone.

Since I’m paying $15 a month for a game that gets no development, I say it’s a-okay to offer a 110 boost for retail if you get 60 on classic, considering most would just level retail if they even cared about it in the slightest.
Watch me do it!
Not really since it’s all digital goods. Plus no one is buying BfA anymore. The 110 is so you can get straight to BfA content. And anyone they entice to go back to retail means potentially more microtransaction sales.
It’s a brilliant advertising move on Blizzard’s part. What better way to get people who have just come back so they could play classic, to check out the retail game. An even better move would be to have that boost be 120, not 110.
I think it’s fine. However, it does seem like a desperate attempt to get people who have re-subbed specifically for Classic to check out BFA.
I really hope that the community isn’t too harsh on the devs, because it may be soul-crushing to learn that they have spent a decade and a half ruining the game that we love, rather than improving it.
The players are as much to blame about the downfall of WoW as the devs are.
But it is amusing how desperate Blizzard is to get people to play BfA.
aw jeez
now people are gonna be playing classic for the wrong reason
and GOLD SELLERS ARE GONNA SELL ALOT MORE POWERLEVELLING SERVICES THAN THEY WOULD BEFORE
