Those on a pvp server that aren’t having fun should not completely dismiss the idea of re-rolling on a pve realm. I did, and I’m having a blast… again.
In fact, when I started leveling again there was someone in general who asked who re-rolled from pvp. surprisingly half a dozen+ people responded and they formed a pvp re-roll community of sorts. We helped each other out on quests and made a few new friends along the way.
Keeping in touch with someone who had hundreds of hours played on pvp and moved to pve, they told me their experiences were completely different from when they first leveled and they were having MORE fun. He mentioned the first time around he was in it for the grind, this time he wanted to smell the flowers. He missed so much the first time to 60 that this second time seems like a fresh experience.
And lets be frank, re-rolling is the only option right now to remove yourself from the ganking on pvp servers. By all means, continue to ask for paid server transfers (I completely support that) but for the time being try making an alt and join the re-roll community who are actually having fun!
tldr: try re-rolling to pve, even if it’s only until BG’s come out. You might like it and make some new friends along the way.

I’m leveling new classes on a pve server, but I still want to transfer my old level 55 paladin off the pvp server it is stuck on.
Re-rolling isn’t generally an option for most people they’d rather unsub and wait for transfer options than start completely over and throw away all the progress they’ve made.

That’s the whole idea Blizzard and the community wants the cry babies off the classic servers, and back to BFA where they belong.

Yeah, that’s an option too I guess. But from someone that realizes that there’s just no other game on the market like wow classic, what else would you play. I’d rather re-roll and have fun in a game I love, then giving up the game completely until transfers come out, but that’s me.
People spent probably a good 2-3 months getting to 50+ on their account, probably taking it slow and enjoying themselves. Only to have this fiasco pop out, and blizzard just let it run rampant.
Just because people don’t want to be literally mobbed to death endlessly doesn’t mean they will have more fun on pvE servers.
Alot of people would rather just stop playing and paying money 
I know if I was suddenly unable to play my character I’ve invested a ton of time in, I’d rather just stop playing than starting over.
It’s just not worth starting from ground zero again.

I’ll give you one thing, once you hit 40 and buy your mount it’s super painful to go back to running everywhere.
But my suggestion is don’t create the same class/race/faction on a new server. Try something new. Don’t look at it as staring over, look at is as experiencing the other half of the game (faction wise)
But isn’t this why you’re on a normal role play realm instead of Grobbulus?

That might work for someone who doesn’t care about race/class, ect. but what about people that do?
Especially lets say on RP servers, where Class/Race combos can matter a bit more, not just for PvE/PvP, but also for RP purposes?
For the 5th time, there WERE paid server transfers in vanilla.
Did you follow the situation on EU-Flamelash? There aren’t even 50 level 60 alliance online at peak time nowadays. What do you suggest to people who selected that realm at random when they first connected? “Too bad ?” You’re just lucky to be on a healthy realm and on the (probably) dominant faction.
Yes, That is why I am on a normal RP server.
I remember what PVP servers were like back in the day, and decided from my past experiences I didn’t want that. Not everyone was fortunate enough to have memories of back then, and without honor in the game the first phase, many didn’t realize the ticking time bomb that was honor phase 2 coming out.
However, just because I’m not on the RP-PvP server, doesn’t mean I cannot empathize with people who have suddenly met a brick wall.
And I would not tell them to simply abandon -everything- they’ve done (especially on RP servers, because gear / levels / gold isn’t the only thing you lose on those) and completely re-roll somewhere else. 
The thing about pve servers is that once you have rag on farm, your done. You either afk in IF or roll an alt until the new phase. PvP servers every gear piece you get lets you PvP that much more effectively. It’s slower paced since alot of your experience involves fighting players for resources.
I get it, repeating the same thing over again might seem like starting again from nothing.
But you could always try another spec, for example I have a warrior alt that I’m leveling as 2 hand furry rather than arms. sure it might not optimal. but it’s somewhat a fresh take… at later levels anyways.
And the interactions with people/guilds/friends are almost always different across all my alts and that makes my game play seem fresh.
Granted my highest level character is in his 40’s so I haven’t really gotten into the grind to 60. Maybe I would change my mind in my 50’s
48-60 takes about as long, possibly longer than 1-47.
It’s one thing if their friends and family don’t want to move. I can even understand not wanting to lose their name. But all of their time spent not playing the game could be spent leveling an alt on a new realm.
They don’t even have to abandon their mains. They could think of it as an extended vacation away from pvp realms.
Throw away the progress? That character isn’t deleted. You can go back to it any time. You knew know, that realm might exactly what you need 2-3 Phases from now
