Another 5 random targets have also had this trinket equipped since my last post. I’m going to call it that there is some interaction with this trinket and nearby players that causes this random targetting.
I’ve completely ignored this thread because I got no hits for days, you guys are awesome and the video example is exactly what happens! I just wish I could get a video example of my dressing room window change on me
So it seems like it could be OCE trinket for me, I’ve stopped using it for a while and haven’t noticed it happening, though I haven’t logged in much unless it’s raid time… I’ll do some testing over the next few days!
In the testing that I have done, it doesn’t actually matter what trinket YOU have equipped. However, if a player in proximity to you has a Paracausal Fragment of Frostmourne trinket equipped, then you will see the brief targetting/detargetting of that player.
I can reproduce this 100% of the time.
What a funny bug. So the trinket must be causing the brief target/de-target when you enter its area of “effect” (i.e. you would be a valid target to grant the player a soul if you died).
This also explains why I saw it most often near Soridormi’s spot since people buying that trinket and equipping it were going to be standing there.
100% correct!
Ever since the hotfix to ClearTarget(), people in my guild are reporting random addon errors from the default Blizzard popup (the one that has Ignore and Disable as buttons) and I suspect it is related to this trinket. The addon reported in the popup just happens to be whichever one most recently executed a function (such as RaiderIO if I’d just moused over someone for their tooltip data) around the same time as the trinket’s target and un-target. Even though the un-targeting is being done for us by whatever scripting is in place with the trinket causing the targeting issue, it still seems to be running afoul of the now-secure nature of ClearTarget().
Has anyone else been seeing this? I can’t reliably reproduce it at the moment because there is no one in Valdrakken with the trinket.
I have been having that same problem, but I don’t believe the Paracausal Fragment of Frostmourne trinket is to blame. I have encountered both when there was a rapid targeting/un-targeting and when there wasn’t.
Yeah I managed to find someone with the trinket in Valdrakken earlier to test and wasn’t able to trigger the unknown error. Frustrating.
Has anyone tested whether this is getting fixed in 10.2? With other world events across DF getting an across-the-board item level buff to remain relevant for catching up, I fear we will continue to see this as people are still buying the trinket causing it.
I just confirmed that the bug still isn’t fixed. Guess we’ll be enjoying it for the rest of Dragonflight.
Yay! Oh well, at least this patch didn’t break all my addons like many prior patches, so I should be grateful.
