Versatility was a stat in a lot of the gear last season. Top rated players are prioritizing haste over Versatility for enchants etc. now. Anyone know the reason for this? Is it because of gcds for Germination/double rejuves? Also I used to flask with vers, what flasks are you guys using in M+?
Haste is one of our top stats due to the fact that we are often GCD-locked during critical situations, but it’s not the be-all, end-all stat. In fact, it has the least direct benefit to our spells. It does make our HoTs tick faster, but the majority of it’s power comes from simply being able to cast spells faster.
To that extent, it’s important to judge for yourself how much haste you need. You can’t just throw out a ballpark number because it really does vary for each person. More haste gives you a better chance to catch up and be reactive when you need to be. But if you are really dialed-in when it comes to proactive healing, you can start to trim back your haste a bit and put it into other stats that give us more direct benefit to our spells.
Keep in mind that our most powerful spell this season, Regrowth, has it’s cast time reduced by the number of rejuvenation HoTs that you have out on the group (including Germination), assuming that you take the Abundance and Wildwood Roots talents. You can get the cast time of Regrowth down below the GCD, and this is independent of Haste, as long as you are good about pre-casting those rejuvenations. So you can be spamming 0.6 second regrowths even with only a moderate amount of Haste if you pre-HoT accordingly.
Once you’ve figured out the amount of haste that is appropriate for your needs, then it largely comes down to choice. Resto Druids are lucky in the sense that we don’t have any “bad” stats.
Mastery will give you the biggest benefit to your heals and this is what I would generally recommend focusing on. You will get more out of Mastery if you are good at clustering your HoTs (keeping multiple HoTs on the people that you are healing) instead of trying to blanket the entire group with just one HoT. The only “downside” to Mastery is that it gives you ZERO benefit to your DPS.
Versatility and Crit are mostly on-par with each other for last place. They are more important if you care a lot about your DPS. Versatility has the added bonus of reducing incoming damage which is always nice. Crit can be unpredictable, but with HoTs, each individual HoT tick has it’s own chance to Crit which tends to even out the unpredictable nature of the stat and turn it into more of a flat healing boost.
Ty for all the info. It makes sense it’s just people (top IO) are prioritizing differently than last season.
