Rdruid dps

Our dps is so low compared to all other classes. I feel so bad going into dungeons doing such low dps. Buffing Sunfire and Moonfire by 100-150%% would put us on par with other healers. It’s such an easy fix they haven’t done. No need to rework etc

There are changes coming in 11.1 that should help our DPS, if you really want to focus on that.

But I’m not sure why you would “feel bad” about doing “bad dps” as a healer, as it’s not our job. Ultimately the best DPS that you can contribute is by proxy, by healing so aggressively that your group feels comfortable pulling bigger trash packs and the actual DPS players can do their job.

Of course there are exceptions, like boss fights with clear burn phases, etc.

And if you actually find yourself in the situation where you are just sitting there “doing nothing”, then sure, toss out some DPS. But as a Resto Druid, a proactive healer, compared to other healers, there really should NOT be a lot of time when you aren’t doing anything, because you should always be pre-HoTing for that next pull. You can’t afford not to.

Every global that a DPS player has to use on a defensive or kiting means more lost DPS than anything you would contribute. So contribute your “DPS” by healing harder and making your team feel immortal. In M+ I never get complaints about my DPS, but I get plenty of complements about my healing.

The changes in 11.1 are suppose to leave our overall damage about the same but smooth out the rotation by letting us choose only caster or only melee (20% overall damage nerf, optional 25% buff to magic or phyisical damage). Dont think itll work out that way since convoke can still only be used in catform if you want it for damage so even if you want to go caster you’re going to be kitty weaving whenever you want a dps convoke.

I like the idea of buffing moon/sunfire back up but after BFA i dont think we’re ever getting good sunfire damage again. It dominated in keys with a single gcd and an azerite trait being all you needed for decent aoe dps (compared to other healers at the time) and theyre to scared to ever bring that back.

I would like some more passive dps options for the spec though since the dots are unlikely to be buffed.
With how weak spring blossom can be high movement fights and ranged group keys nowadays turning it into a choice node that makes enemies inside efflo take nature damage (similar to acid rain for resto) would be fun. Have it tied to some other spell so it isnt just acid rain again, like on moonfire tick or when we hit swiftmend but give caster druids something since they wont have a dps convoke.

They need to include back Moonkin form for everyone. A simple change that would make Convoke good to use with Resto-caster for damage.

Another detail, is that they also need to include Starfire with a faster cast time during ToL, because we can’t catweave for Thrash/Swipes anymore. ToL feels great to burst single target when your mates don’t need immediate healing (plus the duration is way overdue for healing only)… now, when it comes to AoE, the slow cast Starfires are quite bad.

I just came back to Resto Druid and have a question.

The experts on the WOW related websites say to never take Dream of Cenarius but I found that not only does it provide excellent healing, but because you have to take Call of the Elder Druid to get there, you can do stupid good DPS for a healer. For example, 250k DPS single target on boss fights, using Heart of the Wild, and over 600k AOE during trash pulls, for more than 200k overall DPS in Mythic Plus at iLVL 600 gear.

So my question is, do any of you use that, and if not, why not? If you’re not I guess I’m just confused because it’s doing like 30% to 40% of my overall healing and I’m kind of liking it.

On Skarmorak, for example, when he does fortified, I DPS. When he’s not in fortified, I DPS. When one of my teammates takes a big hit, I do rejuv, swiftend, nature’s swiftness enhanced Regrowth, and DPS, and then when it gets really hairy, I pop Tree… and DPS even faster.

I’m diggin it, so what’s so bad about it?

Guides might not have updated to reflect its newer buffed forms which is ran occasionally in high end key groups focusing on dps and raids on farm mostly with keeper for its incarn & BI synergy but generally its not recommended much in higher end stuff because:

  • other talents its competing with are pretty core to the way we heal in keys or raids.
  • it not healing from our most gcd/valuable dps options (moonfire, sunfire, rake, starsurge, rip)
  • Call’s habit of being wasted cause you happen to need a dash to dodge mechanics or bear form for a defensive so now its just gone for a minute.
  • just how few gcds you have to dps unless your groups really coordinated.
  • you NEED both for it to be anyway useful to healing. If DoC was first plenty of people would run it solo im sure.

Next patch is fixing the Call’s problem and theye fiddling with the mastery to reduce the amount of hots we need on a target on avg so it might see more use then.

It’s fine for low damage healing. It just won’t heal through any real damage events in harder content so people don’t take it since there’s better healing talents available.

This, basically.

It’s a great ‘relaxed’ gameplay if you want to run more casual stuff. I love it, out-dpsing some party members with ToL during boss fights when the healing is covered. :joy:

I really want Starfire included in the Tree of Life boosted spell list, with a shorter cast time, because using the Incarnation to burst is only really effective for single target fights.

With heart of the wild spamming wrath is 1 mil hps, on big aoe pulls I can get 1.6-2mil hps spamming starfire. This happens every minute for 15 seconds like a huge cd, it can 100% be used up to certain points (we taling +14s) to do easy caster damage with huge healing.

play wildstalker and convoke in cat form, damage is pretty good, but you now gonna wipe because you just used your CD to deal damage lol.

Heart of the wild + Tree of life makes me giggle with juicy goodness.
