Rdruid DPS Za'qul

How can I maximize dps as rdduid on zaqul, in terms of trinks, talents, azerite and essences etc? Zerg strat looking for advice please!

Cyclotronic Blast on the mechagon trinket is a pretty good start, if you get a leviathans lure thats also pretty good secondary trinket.

for Essences, you could use anyone that has a damage proc or gives you stats or passive dots, like crucible of flame, conflict and strife etc.

I’m not sure how effective of a healer u’d be if you go as far as talents and traits for dps. At that point you may as well spec swap to boomkin. Unless group is tight on heals.

normally long as you spamming your moonfire/sunfire/wrath as often as possible while keeping group alive you should meet most damage thresholds, if not then tell your dps to step it up.

Thanks for this, were currrntently meeting the dps checkpoints getting into p4 consistently and healing requirement isnt much so I will try some of the combinations you mentioned. Thanks!

Are you guys trying to kill before 2nd split?

Yes we are

Make the dps do gooder.

Rdruid? Did you typo? Resto druids are meant to heal, not deal damage. You’ll want to roll balance / feral if you’re looking to deal damage.

No he didnt typo, good healers pump damage to help the team meet the DPS checks.

Not in Mythic Raiding when you’ve got extremely tight DPS checks and periods where (if everyone is doing their job correctly), minimum damage going out. You can’t afford to have healers simply twiddling their thumbs because there’s nothing to heal.

Also @OP, isn’t there some Boomkin Traits that technically work for Resto as well? Maybe use some of them?

is there really nothing to heal in mythic raids? Why?

Well, “nothing” is an exaggeration. But there’s certainly not enough to justify as many healers as you currently have in that particular phase of the fight.

You need them later (or before) when a crap-ton of raid damage is going out. But occasionally the only thing that’s really happening is some incredibly minor damage as well as the tank being melee’d and you don’t need 4 healers to handle that at the moment, so typically Healers use that “downtime” to either regen mana or pump out extra DPS, depending on what the fight needs.

Mythic Zaqul is about dealing with predictable burst damage when you dispel Dread, then ramping raid damage when you are in the fear realm. If Dread is not going out, and you’re not in the fear realm, you can definitely dps on that fight as a healer.

I guess if you really needed the Tranq/Tree windows and not much else. Even then though I’d be more inclined to put the druid on full-time healing and let an rsham or something run the one-off clutch cooldowns.

Mythic raids vacillate pretty wildly on how much healing you need – not just between fights, but even between phases of a given fight at any given moment – and DPS windows are often very tight and need every little bit you can throw at it. The healers going killbot in the damage lulls, especially a boss where you hero/lust on pull to smash out a ton of damage before the mechanics even kick in, can very easily be the difference between a kill and a wipe on some fights.

For a sense of how much healing demands can vary in a single fight, here’s a breakdown of what incoming damage looks like on Mythic Queen’s Court.

The big mountain where Deferred Sentence and Potent Spark overlap is pretty much the only reason you even need a 4th healer. An rsham or something can take DPS talents/traits/trinkets, mash their big healing CDs when needed, and put out about half or more as much sustained DPS as an actual DPS for the rest of the fight. Which is important, because you need to survive that massive damage spike, but you also need to kill a double-boss with an unholy amount of HP before they hit a relatively tight berserk timer.

And for a sense of how much healer DPS matters, healers can collectively rip a few % off the boss. On Mythic Ashvane, with the healers going ham throughout (~30k DPS between them) we’ve both wiped with less than 150k left, and killed her with less than 2s left on the carapace cast that would’ve wiped us. That’s how close some of these kills get, especially first kills.

Also remember, Mythic raids are tuned blindly. The devs have no idea what numbers the crazy world first racers will be able to field, so it’s scaled up past what the internal teams can handle, then nerfed down during the race as needed. Whatever they’re able to pull on week 1/2 effectively becomes the damage floor for the whole tier. Usually farming the early parts of the raid eases those DPS checks somewhat, but Eternal Palace drops notoriously awful gear for DPS compared to Benthic, Mech rings, etc. – so some of those fights stay just as close as they were week one. World first Ashvane kills uniformly slipped in during a carapace cast…and so did most of the farm kills afterward for a couple months until she got nerfed.

Which is another reason besides throughput that Disc/HPal are top healer specs. They just ramp before the burst and the HPal hits Holy Shock and heals the damage back for most of the raid.
