Lol, what effects? That people will actually run dungeons? Terrible!
Launched in 3.3
Growth rate of pop slowed dramatically then Began to decline after the honeymoon period of the new feature faded.
The social aspect of wow has been in decline since rdf was added because people no longer felt a need to talk and make social connections.the devs themselves have stated these negative effects from rdf to some degree.
Are you going to do the same thing drinkblink did? “My sub is up in 7 days”
Still here 7 days later
“Well i didnt say i wasnt going to renew it!”
Lol.
So, you’re blaming RDF for the decline of a game that didn’t change anything from expansion to expansion? We level up, we gear up, we do raids. The formula never changed.
No, that’s just us. If you join a CoD gameroom, do you chat with people, or is everyone generally silent, except for that one player that likes to try and troll?
Additionally, if that were the case, we’d see a lot more connections being made throughout Classic.
The devs also didn’t know when RDF was implemented. They’ll say whatever they can to further their agenda.
It’s been proven that RDF actually promoted socialization - it allowed players to meet other players they wouldn’t have otherwise, and some of us even transferred servers after meeting them through RDF.
They always threaten to leave, but yet they end up either staying or looming on the forums because they can’t help themselves. They keeps the pimple cream and hot pocket companies in business.
Im not saying its the only reason, but it was definatly one of the factors. Even the devs have stated they felt accessibility tools like rdf were part of the reason for the decline. And they have the back end data, which includes the “why are you unsubbing” answers.
I’m sure Death Knights were a reason, too. Should we remove those too?
The current devs?
I have had more active conversations in cod style games than i have in rdf.
I highly doubt that, but even if that was the case, that’s your experience. Your experience doesn’t speak for the masses here.
Thats not even remotely comparable.
A playable class vs a accessibility / convenience system. Lol…
Devs that worked there than and some work there now.
And yet you are using your experience to try and do just that.
Sounds like a you problem, maybe you should be more social.
Thats not even remotely comparable.
Of course it is - if we’re listing reasons why people quit, I’m sure Death Knights are on there, too.
Devs that worked there than and some work there now.
Can you provide a source from a dev that worked there in 2008-2010?
And yet you are using your experience to try and do just that.
No, I am saying that based on my experience and others’, RDF does promote socialization - that, in itself, negates your point of RDF destroying it.

Someone linked the interview in this very thread.
Someone linked the interview in this very thread.
The same thread that has over 1,200 messages?

And based on my experience and others it damages socialization. So again you are using your experience to speak for others yet claiming i shouldnt do it.
Hypocritical much?
And based on my experience and others it damages socialization.
You’re not basing it off your experience - you’re saying it as a matter of fact.
The same thread that has over 1,200 messages
Yep. It was around 900-1000 i think, maybe a little past that.
Who told you game should = convenience?
Absolutely not a soul, but if a game turns into a chore you lose people.
Cause that’s simply not why the vast majority of people game.
