actually i was advocating for RDF at the start of Wrath. i am in no way a purist. my complaint is that they decided to pick and choose which systems to leave out “until their patch.” rather than doing an all or nothing approach.
i would have been fine if all of these systems were held off until their respective patches knowing for certain that RDF was coming in phase 3, or if they had just released everything during prepatch and not left out RDF like they did:

Sure can and before jj was turned on it was leveling in empty zones and nothing but a slog fest.
I’m good on all that noise. I’ve done it solo enough and i don’t care to do it again.
If it’s not fresh realm leveling or zones packed with people it’s not fun to me. It’s just a slog.
that was the one thing she said that made me hope that it’ll come out.
as whacky as blizz has been pushing random stuff out they’ll just say “it came out in icc so we wanted to stay true to that” when the real reason is they wanna just drag this out and pull all the people in at the end and bump subs up again lol. i suspected it would come out in icc i just wish it wasnt gonna be so long away (if it comes) lol.
tin foil hat but idc i just want rdf we’re so close
My stance has been that i dont like the negatives that it will bring.
Wow has always been vague on teaching new players how to play, even tutorial island in retail has its limitations. People will level up quicker but have no idea how to use their spells effectively as theres no reason to use some, or learn certain basic combinations.
New healers and tanks need alot of additional help as alot of people will just quit a group early on, its faster to requeue and hop into another one than slog through 45 minutes of new players learning.
Off peak hours and the 2nd month of the phase will have the same issues, most will get geared and just dont come back to dungeons for any reason. Some dont even do the daily heroic. Queues will spike to an hour plus and cries of no tanks/healers will ring throughout.
These are 90% of the reasons i didnt want RDF, and honestly if blizzard addressed them in a way ill be happy to jump on the wagon with yall. Untill then i dont want gistory to repeat itself warts and all.
Players are using more abilities in dungeons than they are using in the open world and whether theyre communicating or not they are learning in a team working environment. RDF doesnt hurt any of that as currently there is very little if any communication happening in dungeons as it is, if you can even get a group for one in the first place.
how is this a bad thing? as it is, if youre in a middle of a dungeon and someone peaces out then youre pretty much done with that dungeon because its incredibly rare to get a back up. rdf takes like 5 mins, less if a dps dropped lol.
Had RDF come with all the other features they released early…players would be better at their classes. They would have learned their abilities as they got them.
So yea, a level 40 tank or healer (that has never done it) is going to most likely not be as good as they would have starting from level 15…lol.
That doesnt make any sense. Tanks and healers who level through the rfd system are vastly more prepared for groups at 80. And as a dps its almost never faster to requeue unless the healer/tank is just REALLY bad… and even then. We’re talking old world dungeons here and inevitably at least some of the group will be fully enchanted/heirloomed out…
On top of that youre doing much more dungeons with RDF than you are with LFG. Youre being introduced to many more adverse situations and solutions to solve them because youre getting more repetition from the dungeons. This is a benefit to tanks and healers by far
I dont see how this translates into preparing any new player for a raid.
Divine sacrifice can be learned fairly early but paladins rarely are put in a situation where its needed nor do they learn how to effectivley judge a situation that requires canceling the secondary sacrifice effect so they dont die. I see very few paladins mixing bubble into their Dsac not knowing how fast it can kill you.
A holy paladin is rarely in a situation where they learn to effectivley use hand of sacrifice or hand of salvation. Warlocks die all the time as seed of corruption is really strong…very few react properly every time.
Weaving in melee swings with a judgment to regain mana in a tense environment rarely happens in anybodys journey through 20-79.
A feral druid tank is rarely seen nowadays prehotting themselves before encounters, i rarely see new bears starting properly or effectivley mauling/mangling/lacerating in any efficient order thus the current bad reputation of bear tanks.
Mages not weaving flamestrike in between blizzard all the way up to heroic +.
I can go on but theres no point, this has been my personal experience.
You’re going to get your butt handed to you even more so that rated. When ppl have to power to queue for the content unimpeded, they’re going to get practice and get better.
If LFR was available for Mythic+ Ulduar hardmodes, etc., yeah, many random groups will wipe at first and rage, but it’s just a matter of learning the fights, getting practice, and in time, random groups could down any raid through any difficulty.
Yea… Its not going to prepare you for min/maxing so you can get your max possible parse… but nothing before 80 will. What it will do is teach people the basics pf their class so when they do hit 80 they can start absorbing that stuff instead of being suddenly overwhelmed with abilities theyve never used before because you cant currently level as anything but a dps spec effectively.
Well hopefully they leave some Eternal Wrath servers up since RDF is coming so late then they will probably release Cata sometime after, it’s like we played 75% of Wrath without RDF. Almost like they’re saving it for Cata to get people to actually play Cata. I don’t really want to play Cata, I mean I will, but I’d rather just stay in Wrath with RDF and level alts and raid ICC.
